British Photographic History

9/10 - got Q4 wrong.

6/10

Though on phone I could not zoom in or out, which may not have helped :(

wayhey!!!! I can happily say I know next to nothing about British photography. 2/10

Re did it on the PC and that revealed missing answers not visible on the phone got 8/10 and it was Q 7 & 9 wrong.

As for the missing answers ~ one was in the Sidney Street siege, I was 100% sure it was Winnie but he was not listed on the phone screen :(

PS the quiz IMO is not all about photography but also British history in general i.e. ones age may be relevant and what was taught & learned ;)

2/10 - and quite surprised at that really as I have absolutely no interest in the history of photography - or most history for that matter

The 2 I got right were the Brunel one, as I recalled seeing an engineering programme about him where it mentioned the ship, and the Martin Parr one as it featured in a magazine I read a few months back. So I only got those right by chance encounters with history

i knew the answer to only one, but surprisingly knew enough to guess half of them right. 7/10 :-)

6/10, although the quiz was more about things with a photographic link than about photography itself so I don't feel too bad.

8/10

The main skill in any quiz is knowing how to guess effectively.

That's the thing with these multiple guess quizzes, I didn't know definitively know all of the 9 of the answers I got right, but took educated guesses based on deduction and such like. If I'd have been asked to answer the questions without a choice of answers, I'd have got maybe 4 before having to resort to Google or books.

But an educated guess is at least based on an education, whether academic or as a result of reading widely and paying attention..

I had to make such a guess with the Cecil Beaton question, but knowing a bit about him and knowing the movies offered as answers it wasn't a difficult guess to get right. Some of the others are serendipity, the female photojournalist was featured in a newspaper story quite recently (possibly her obituary?).
