Yes
have been offered a weeks 'work' in Milan teaching a restaurants staff how to cook British Food - any suggestions?

BTW I am an ex-chef

That would be fish fingers, mash and beans then.

Angel delight and pot noodles and some rancid cockney seafood.

On a serious note, maybe more regional food? eg Lancashire hot pot. (originally had oysters in, so you could also do an upmarket version if it's a fancier restaurant)

Roast beef & Yorkshire puds.

shepherds / cottage pie
toad in the hole
kebabs....

I think diners are often interested in regional specialties, so you could present it that way (even if the dishes are now national).

Yorkshire pudding
Lancashire hotpot
Cornish pasties
Haggis
Pie & mash & liquor
Bakewell tart
Eccles cake
Eton Mess
Pork pie
Scotch broth, mulligatawny etc

I think the Italians are a bit more enthusiastic about offal, so also
Liver & onion
Steak & kidney pie (with mash and liquor?)
Haggis!
Black pudding (we see a lot of mortella on menus here, so let's return the favour)
White pudding

And we haven't even got to the a classic, well-made British sausage - truly, a thing of joy.

Pea & ham soup
suet pudding (sweet and savoury)
sponge puddings
FISH & CHIPS!
Scampi

Plus championing British produce to replace things they already have;
Welsh lamb
Scottish beef
British cheeses
British beer & cider, gin and whisky

There's a wealth of things to work with here. For kor inspiration have a peek at the recipes books from the top chefs offering 'modern British' cuisine.

And you can always horrify them with a British-style spag bol or macaroni cheese! :)

Much of what Andy said...

Classic beef stew with dumplings
Cornish Pasty
Fish and chips
Scotch eggs
Proper puddings - crumbles, jam roly poly etc...
Rabbit pie

and best of all - a proper roast dinner!

Saves me some typing....Ta!!

Speaking as an Italian, English food me and my family love is...

Sunday dinner, roast beef/chicken/lamb, yorkshire pudding etc.

Full English breakfast.

Fish and chips.

err and that's about it lol ;)

Does the restaurant not already know what British food it will be selling?

No they currently sell Italian food (obviously) and American - the owner spent 30 years in Atlanta.
She is looking for ideas although Chicken Tikka Masala did not go down well

Many of the suggestions are great and I thank you for the time and trouble taken - others ... well let's leave them here:)

British food is relatively easy, restaurant type British food is a little harder!

I disagree.
Restaurant visitors idea of restaurant style British food.....now that's the problem.

Just over cook your vegetable, undertook potatoes and make certain the meat is really really well done. That way it is nice and authentic. Don't expect anyone to appreciate it though.

Italian? Ah, I thought you were Swiss lol

Echoing everything everyone has already said.

Beer battered fish and chips though is a winner

Other than Yorkshire puds and fish and chips...
Pies,
pasties,
pancakes,
sausage, mash and beans,
vegetable soup,
mushy peas and something,
apple pie or fruit and custard,
gravy, thick gravy,
toast with jam,
scones, scones with jam and cream,
muffins.

GF's family in Thailand like my cooking and they're particularly taken with mashed potato, custard (not at the same time,) jam and toast and a little invention of my own which is a sort of naan bread folded over and stuffed with cheese and tomato and shallow fried. They can't get enough of that.

Welsh Black sirloin steak with Stilton sauce, Colcannon potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

Crikey, it's the wrong time of night to be thinking about food - I could murder a kebab now. :(
