Britain's got talent?

TBH I and I suspect a lot of others watch it for the "deluded and talentless"

I suspect you're right... but really, the deluded and talentless should not get as far as actually being seen on TV. This is a disservice to those with an actual talent who get nowhere.

Many people aren't interested in 'talent' and just want someone to laugh at.

Is that not what the bird section is for?

Lol

I watch it because the kids have it on. Great acts (they do get the odd one) or crap acts can be equally entertaining.

Then perhaps they should replace the TV with a mirror.
Steve.
But then they can't go into work the next day and talk about laughing at the same person.

My dad always said to me when I was young when lighting the log fire .....now this is the best tv you are going to watch .

Some people are very talented but I must agree to the above I watch it for laughs.

We used to have comedians for that. I think it's sad that we find more entertainment in laughing at those who are not talented than we do in watching those who are.

I don't watch any of that inane crap, big brother, X fuctor, jungle mince, made in who gives toss. These shows contain brainless wonders, are designed for brainless wonders to watch and they duly oblige. End of.

Good to see you're feeling better and back to your mellow, laid back self. ;)

"Britans Got Talent" is in the clue and surely you don't think every act who enters the competition will have talent do you? and there is acts that are funny ( funny laughable acts ) not all Susan Boyle orientated.
Good job we are all different as the world would be such a boring place!!.

No... but I would like to think that ALL of those who get through the auditions and appear on the show actually have talent and are not put on just for the comedy factor of them being terrible.

There are enough talented people in the country to enable every single act on every show to be very good. That would indeed make a show worthy of its title.

It's not what the moronic chav public want tho is it? They want to see some thick, talentless mugs make a muppets of themselves. I dunno who's the worst the participants of the kind of viewers who get pleasure out of this kind of drivel.

So you just want the Variety Show brought back then?

What would be wrong with that?
Perhaps some of these "talented" people might even appear on there....after they've actually worked for some success.

I'm just asking if that's what he wants, not having a dig. Personally, I wouldn't watch them either as they would contain mainstream safe humour, wishy washy bands, plate spinning and maybe a drag act. You cant please everyone, not even with a variety show.

You will always see a so called underdog in the finals and the show is all about ratings and what people want and vote for........ just look at the past shows.

It would be a variety show but there's no reason why it should be the old fashioned plate spinners, magician sawing a women in half, drag act, wishy washy band, etc. type of show from the 1970s (although the 1970s show New Faces was quite good).

It would be very easy to create a talent show where all of the acts shown to the public actually had talent and appealed to a modern audience.

I don't think people actually want to watch crap on TV, I think that is all they are given.

Steve.

They always have a choice to press the RED button on the remote and turn it off or turn it over.

But it shouldn't even be offered as a choice in its current form. All it is doing is glorifying the mediocre. That's basically the same thing karaoke does.

Steve.

The Tube and The Word both provided some variety in the 80s, but were probably too alternative for the mainstream.

Well, if my wife is in the house then BGT will be on the telly. I watched it with her last night and found most of it pretty entertaining.

For those of you who watched it, I would say the choir was decent enough for a bogstandard choir but only 'alright' for a Welsh one... I've always found the Welsh seem to be very good singers and I've heard better choirs in the past, isn't it (please read the last in a Welsh accent).

As for the sibling dancers? - Very talented and a great performance but I found watching a brother and sister dancing in such a way a little too creepy for me. Expecting her to slip away and land on her c-spine was a bit nervy too.

Ironic name for a show that consistently proves otherwise.

Oh I strongly disagree as IMVHO there are some very talented acts on the show and they consistently find good acts every year and to be honest I can't really see how anyone can deny that.

My problem isn't with the good and talented it's...

- The panel... I just don't like celebrities at the best of times but these seem to be particularly objectionable examples of the breed except for the young lady as I have no idea who she is. I can't stand the cackling seal clapping Amanda or One Joke Wolliams or Mr Simon though.

- The bad and the sad... They're trotted out for the edification of the baying masses and the judges look suitably, shocked, appalled and / or amused. The thought that these acts have been repeatedly and numerously screened wouldn't even begin to cross our minds. Perish the thought.

I'm sure there are other reasons why I'm uncomfortable with this show but those two are the biggies and they'll do for now.
