Western world? I'd agree some extremists in the East take it too literally. Like extremists take the bible, Torah or shruti (depending on their particular beliefs) too literally through the world

Though, you wouldn't know, because as a Christian you never really bothered thinking too much about what that actually means. ;)

So tell me, which hard core bible Bashers are throwing gay people off buildings, executing people via beheadings and stonings? I'm dying to know.
 
It is a derogatory racist term, used to liken black people to apes.

Well:

Sara Davidson, head of modern languages at Oundle School in Peterborough, claimed that foreign pupils could study the language they already speak to compensate for their weakness in English.

She said it "can give some students more confidence to do a GCSE in their native language if they are struggling in other GCSE subjects because of their weaknesses in English".

If English was so important and these pupils are weak at English then how would they get top grades?

I'm guessing you've missed out on the last 20 years of violence, homophobia and medieval behaviour in Africa then. Mostly Christians, though of course some Muslims too. Because if you take those books literally, they really can be dangerous things.

And let's not forget that ALL of these texts have been interpreted and re-interpreted, translated and re-translated so many times over the centuries that they probably bear no resemblance at all to the originals, which probably read more like Grimms' fairytales.
Still, the weak and gullible of the world still need something to cling to.

Like the laws in the other Book, definitely true about the gays, but not so much about the prawns. And don't take the rape and murder in His name too seriously, or that part about rich people not going to heaven. But the gays, definitely that, there's no way that can be tolerated.
 
I'm starting to remember why I stopped posting for so long.

Who's played the "spot the non-white Britain First member/good guy" game on the articles on their facebook page? Serously the only non-white people on there are all "the bad guys".

I see they're still using Lee Rigbys photo as a propaganda tool despite the family asking them not to.

Well the record in africa isn't looking to clever

Uganda - anglican catholic - Homosexuality is illegal and mandates life imprisonment (previously it mandated the death penalty)
Gambia - anglican catholic - the president recently said "We will fight these vermins called homosexuals or gays the same way we are fighting malaria-causing mosquitoes, if not more aggressively,"
Cameroon - Roman catholic -"gay activist Eric Ohena Lembembe was tortured and beaten to death last year, and dozens more activists have been charged in recent months. "
Nigeria - Anglican catholic - Homosexuality is illegal and mandates 14 years in jail "A mob in Abuja, spurred on by a newspaper that regularly publish the names and addresses of suspected gays, recently yanked 14 men from their beds, beat them, and hauled them to local police — who continued the beatings."
Zimbabwe - Anglican catholic - Lesbians are subjected to "corrective rape"

I can't decide if you are being deliberately obtuse or if you really don't understand logic, but to put it in words even you can understand however

I am opposed to extremism and bigotry in all its forms - this means that I abhor the actions of ISIL/AQ etc, but also abhor the principals etc expressed by groups like Britain First

ISIL are about as representative of islam as the KKK or the LRA are of christianity.

It isn't an either / or - and in fact the actions of groups like BF are exactly what ISIL want as the more the west can be moved to discriminate against all muslims, the more ISIL can paint themselves as the good guys in the muslim world rather than the irellevant and marginalised tiny minority of medieval nutters they actually are

so in answer to your question, no I have no intention of living in a caliphate - but I also have no intention of living in a far right police state run by racist homophobic bigots

I can almost guarantee that if I see a mis-spelled internet meme it'll be racist.

What racist thugs fail to understand about themselves, is that the rest of us see their ignorance as a symptom of their lack of intelligence, and it's not the only sign (usually there's lots).

As I said earlier, I know a lot of these type of people, and there's not one of them I'd leave to house sit, but they think they're smart enough to tell us where we're being stupid. The irony is off the scale.

The majority however are decent.
