which rather overlooks that in order to take say GCSE in Urdu you have to also speak English (as the exam generally involves translation) so it is no inherently easier for an imigrant than it is for someone who speaks english as their first language

Look at the 14 descriptors of Fascism on that page, by American author Laurence Britt.....and see how many apply to the government of today in both the UK and the US. Scary stuff!


Now......I agree that Britain First do spout crap (eg, the bit about illegal immigrants getting benefits.....duh...if theyre illegal they dont get anything!). They spout alot of crap and their tactics of like-and-share-whoring annoy me (Share if you agree etc).
However, what I equally don't like is the vitriol and hate directed towards anyone who even sympathises with any view that BF hold.

This is a democracy, and that's not how a democracy works. Look at how the ConDems have screwed many of us over...infact look at the history of any political party and you'll find things that you may not think you'd find.
The same goes for when Kilroy-Silk was attacked when he became the MEP with UKIP. That was wrong. This is a democracy, they lost. Deal with it.
I may not agree with a policy but that's fine. Disagree with my vote. That's how the system works.


Anyway, that aside. How have they got so many followers? Firstly, and it's already been stated, is the use emotional appeal (eg the starving dog). Also through the use of emotional appeal with vague statements. (Support our troops).
Finally and I think this is the biggie........I think they've stood on a nerve.

Yes we live in a multicultural society, but you can't ignore that there is a very strong undercurrent of resentment and unhappiness against the current status quo.
Yes we are a developed nation and have a moral duty to help others in need, but at what cost?

That's how theyre getting the attention. They're vocalising (in a roundabout way), an underlying feeling of neglect from our own government who seemingly help everyone else but our own. There must be for something like BF to get that much attention.
I have a good few friends on Facebook, and many of them are sharing the same sentiments day in day out, not just from BF, and it has absolutely nothing to do with race or skin colour.

How anyone can say Britain First et all AREN'T fascist is beyond me. They are simply an exercise in pure uninformed ignorance,which has unfortunately seemed to strike a chord with a certain level (not class though,level) of people in this lovely society of ours. It's unjust biased hatred.

Thats because it illegal to do so. I almost added, they may be racist but not stupid, but on second thoughts.

Their members, on the other hand, are quite happy to spout racist dogma to their hearts content.
 
Isn't this down to how you define Socialism , Nationalism and Fascism? Someone who supports there country can't immediately be classed as Fascist, no more than an extreme Socialist can be classed as a Communist. Believe it or not there is still free speech in this country and the right to follow your beliefs without being shouted down by a narrow minded minority of either side.
Is Britain First ,Nationalist, Fascist or Racist? I don't know, I don't know enough about them as they don't really come in to my orbit. If you love your country and have strong feelings about the issues that face it, how can you be considered Fascist or Racist? Its the way that you deal with the issues that decides on how you are defined. There is extremism on both sides neither of which is desirable
 
I will like anyone or anything which will do something about a Chilean family claiming £650 a month in housing benefit then sub letting 15 bunks in that house for £60 a week EACH

The point was about the disingenuous presentation if I am not mistaken. I mean why the big deal if pupils want to do a language exam in their native tongue? It is a non-issue, there is no need to make capital from it, people will interpret it totally wrongly. It is presented like the schools are teaching in their native language and the exams have been translated into their native language. If it is then that is not good, but I don't think that is what is happening at all.

Actually thinking a bit more about this, if foreign born students can't take an exam in their native language because it is too easy to get an A* then surely native English speakers can't take an exam in English as it is an easy route to an A* ;)

Ah yes, of course all of which is caused by ordinary Muslim people and every asylum seeker and immigrant ever. No-one denies that extreme Islam is indeed a serious threat, but to go on a mass crusade against ordinary people, and others who are just seeking somewhere safe to live is just ridiculous. I can assure you I'd rather have Muslim neighbours than Britain First supporters any day.
