Bristol kite festival today

Very grey overcast skies at the moment though ... not very photogenic

Might pop down later if the weather brightens up a bit :)

The giant manta ray was on the BBC
They say they are going to try again tomorrow - the video looked amazing!

We'd like less wind and more sun please. Usually, you rip a kite when it is on the ground, against a tree or something. We burst it in the air. The pressure on the skin is immense.

Sunshine would be nice. The air inside warms up and actually provides some assistance in lifting a quarter of a ton of Nylon and Spectra...

This is me (from the BBC footage). Spent 12 hours working on that 1-minute flight and never had a moment to take the camera from the bag:

Fortunately, i brought my industrial sewing machine with me. With the assistance of some willing help, we put the machine in the middle of the field with a genny and worked for four hours patching up this little tear:

If anyone has good photos of the flight, and can share them for no more than an attribution, I'd be keen to use them when I write an entry in my blog, here: http://www.tug.com/blog
