Frustrated at the cessation of 127 film I emailed Ilford to ask if they had any plans to make their film available in that format. They said.... no, they're not planning to.
BUT WAIT! They said if they get enough queries they'll consider it!

So if you want some top notch b&w 127 film for your classy TLRs, your art-deco folders and your clunky lo-fi, bakelite point & shoots then why not suggest Ilford make some: http://www.ilfordphoto.com/contact.asp

The lot that you need to contact is Rollei as until recently they did manufacture 127 film (it was different from the Adox/Efke CHS100 127) by cutting down Agfa-Gevaert film, unfortunately Efke were the company who did the final finishing so to speak of the cut down Rollei film because they provided the spools and backing paper that they manufactured themselves and married this with the Rollei film in their own factory which they closed recently.

All that needs to occur is someone to start making the spools and backing paper again and a spooling machine because the film splitting etc was already done by Rollei.

Interesting to hear that Ilford may consider production of 127 film.

I dabbled with the EFKE version, some of which i still have in the freezer, but tbh was not impressed by the results.

Don't get me wrong the cameras I used were never going to offer brilliant images but the film was nevertheless a let down imho.

I'm pretty confident that should Ilford take the plunge, then their film will be of a superior quality......in the meantime 35mm film respooled onto 127 spools with backing paper suffices albiet allowances have to be made for the narrow film when composing a shot.

I've a little Yashica 44 which I'm rather fond of and it's getting hungry so I emailed Ilford as suggested by Sparty. I really hope this works. Nice though it was to find the Efke film, it was incredibly curly.......
