Hi All,

I'm looking for fabulous, modern footbridges in the UK.
There's a great one in Newcastle, London of course and Manchester.

Does anyone know of other bridges lurking about?

Also.. any know details about local photography rights and restrictions around the bridges is welcome.
I'm googling around here, looking up info too.

Thanks,
Rob.

The sail bridge at Swansea Marina. Right outside Sainsburys. No issues with access.

Actually there are unlikely to be any restrictions on your right to photograph any footbridges in the UK, since they're not going to have any strategic or military significance. The question is whether you have decent access - i.e. can you find a suitable vantage point that's on public property.

Maidstone has its very own meleninum (ok ive tried 4 times and the spell check wont work it out) foot bridge close to the town centre, over the river medway.

Edit: not use you would count it a fabulous - bet then it depends on your definition:)

Why do you want he info by the way?

Leeds have now a couple of them. One down by the Royal Armories and one just up from the back of Leeds train station. Not on the same scale as some of the others but they look good. There is also a unusual one at the bottom of dewsbury road going over the motorways.

Do you mean Millennium Footbridge Ruth? :D

Here it is: http://www.fotolibra.com/gallery/84754/millennium-footbridge-maidstone-kent/

Ruth - you might know - is the Rochester Footbridge done yet or still in the making? That's supposed to be something nice architecturally (is this even a word?) speaking

Ok I will suggest it.

The forth rail and road bridge :)

if ** willing to travel some there is the humber bridge and also the Brunell Bridge in Bristol

Mike

Newport (South Wales) also has a fantastic 'transporter bridge', but it is currently closed for maintenance. When open again, I'm pretty sure they allow pedestrians to cross it. You're also a couple of hundred feet up when you cross it.

thanks all !

I also found a couple of links to bridge engineers and they list a load too.

Some lovely stuff here

Today is a crazy day of planning the shoot, 12 calls to the Uk so far, permissions seem pretty easy, it's for commercial use though so fees and restrictions have to be negotiated there too. Plus some aerial photography needs sorting out.

With any luck I'll be over very soon for a recce mission ;)

Regards, Rob.

Oh, and the Silver Jubilee (aka Runcorn) Bridge in Merseyside. You can walk across that one.

The new bridge being built here in Castleford is close to being finished and is also part of an ongoing programme made for tv by channel 4, must add in this link the graphic designer seems to have seen a wider river than I have seen down there!

wow, loads. Thanks!

We've whittled it down to a few dedicated footbridges, i.e. no mixed vehicle/pedestrian access.

So far, the Lowry Bridge in Salford is the front-runner.

I've been calling and digging around for info, access and chartered helicopter shots. Now to present it all to the client..
Fingers crossed :)

Rob.

there's another bridge across the dee further upstream which links deeside to Flint.
It does carry vehicles, but it's modern and quite impessive.
