I do not use light room but when you go into "bridge" and set the "file type associations" in the "preferences" menu, can you not tell bridge to use light room from there?

You don't tend to open a file with LR. It is a collection program itself. If you drag Lightroom onto Bridge you can create a shortcut in the left hand top pain in the favourites and launch it. If you click on an item and open with LR then LR will try and import the image.

As Cowasaki says, you import into Lightroom then work on the image. If you have got both Lightroom and Bridge installed you may be better of migrating your library to Lightroom.

think I shall stick with the very easy to use CS4
