Hey all
Ive just imported all my raws from my NYC trip into bridge/photoshop and the thumbnail previews do not look like they should. for example everything is super bright and all my night shots are horrible and a orangey colour.
When i look at them in windows photo viewer everything is fine and normal. any ideas ? its driving me mad because i want to edit them but not when theyre all like that.
Ive also just put them into lightroom and the same thing.
Thanks
Joe

Check which settings you are using for your monitor's colour profile, which is where Lightroom (and PS to a certain extent) gets its own profiling from. If you aren't colour managing it should be set to sRGB unless you are 100% sure about what you are doing.

It depends on your OS, but it's under the advanced section of Display Properties-> Settings, the pick the tab for Colour Management.

Hey guys
Im still having this terrible problem with my lightroom thumbnails.I havnt bothered posting anything on it lately *** i got so disheartened by not being able to play with my pics that I just left it.
But heres a pic to give you an idea of what i mean. hopefully the pic will come out ok enough for you to see.
As you can see the photos in the thumbnails are completely orange, now when I took the pics and viewed them on the camera and then in normal windows photo viewer they were normal colours as I saw with my own eyes at the time of taking the photo but as soon as they opened up in lightroom and elements they turn a horrible orange. Its not just the thumbs either,as you can see they are orange in the main editing window too,Really hope someone can help. thanks alot guys.

Am I right in thinking these are raw shots? yet your viewing them in windows, which version of windows?
LR and elements are colour managed, windows usually isn't, what you see on the camera back is the embedded jpeg, it's just a rough guide.
I'd be guessing and say what your seeing is a mixture of profiles, what profile is attached in LR (edit preferences it's default is prophoto) ? and have you accidently set an import preset?
Last question has LR always done this or is it only now with your raw images?

Hello Wayne thanks alot for the reply
Yes they are raw shots but I installed a raw thumbnail viewer for windows 7which allowed me to view them in windows,Ive uninstalled it now tho.
I'll attach a pic to this so you can see all my LR settings, incase I miss something out.
To your last question, No it hasnt always done this, I cant remember if it was on my last laptop but I remember having no problems whatsoever before.
It worked on my old laptop and it has also worked on my present laptop, but not anymore.
