Yes
A friend wants to start taking pictures and for some reason has asked me for a few suggestions.
Mainly of his kids, who do a lot of sporty stuff, so he needs something that can focus fairly fast, has a decent zoom, and that can connect with his iphone so he can post on facebook etc.

I know nothing at all about what is available, so am asking you clever folks - used is not a problem, but budget certainly tops out at £500 - less would be good if possible.

Any suggestions will be passed on and much appreciated !

Nikon P900 would get my vote my brother has on cracking camera the only downside is it doesn't shot RAW.

Well I have just got hold of a Panasonic FZ1000 and it has been great taking pictures of my 2 little ones causing chaos at there school holiday club, which involves a lot of sport and action shots.

Thats something i wasn't sure about, although i like them i have never used them for action shots

Thanks for the replies - I doubt the lack of RAW would trouble my buddy, and know that changing lenses is not an option, but both the Nikon P9000 and Panasonic FZ1000 look interesting.
Both seem to offer the facility to post to facebook which is so important (to some....)

I'll read up on some reviews, meanwhile any other options much appreciated too !

don't forget the FZ1000 does slo mo and 4 K video, has a larger sensor than the P900 and in my experience using both the
FZ1000 would be a much better choice al around

..and I seem to remember you sold one recently, but then, you seem to have bought or sold almost every camera on the market in the last few months !
Thanks Chris..

And a cracking camera it is :D

cracking hmmm

I'd been thinking about getting a P900 , started looking on ebay and found one that'd been dropped so took a chance on it at £90

all I can say is I'm never going to worry about a scratch on a front element again, it works perfectly and none of this shows up in any of the pictures but you're correct, it's a cracking camera, especially when dropped
