Hi there,

Been asked to cover a friend of a friends wedding next week.

Met the couple but the bride has a baby bump. She doesn't seem to mind having it in shot, but just wondering for the posed shots any advice to either show off or hide the bump to best effect?

Cheers Neil

I would put her bump in, deffinately. She will look back at the photos with her child and say "Thats you when we where getting married"

My mum had the same with me but I was about 1 year old. She said "Thats you when we where getting married, we had to give you to your Auntie because you wouldn't stop screaming!"
So yeah its a good idea to leave it in. Plus if you try Not to put it in your thinking more about your framing and could ruin some of your shots. I'm not saying your a bad tog, just saying you'll be shooting differently with more stress on the mind worrying about the bump. When you should be capturing what you (And B&G) thinks is best.

Yeah thats true, Ill mainly be shooting reportage style as it happens but they have asked for a few posed shots at a location. She asked if it was possible to shpw the bump (8mths) to full effect but also if i could get a few that might minimise it

Taking shots from above will usually make the torso look smaller and graduating an you go lower. Giving a wierd effect... but you might not see the wierd effect if she has the bump.

Put a fisheye on her stomach for funnies :D

Ask her to have a big bouquet

:)

Dunno if this helps, but I saw one of the best wedding shots i've ever seen recently. It's the shot where you can see the groomesman in the reflection of the car waiting, and the bride/groom coming out. Pure class.

if she's fine with having the bump in then shoot both of their hands on the bump showing the wedding rings. Head on shots will hide the bump and profile shots will highlight it.
