Morning team,

Does anyone know for sure if this is the correct e-mail address for Brian?

bjmick@aol.com

I mailed him about 3-4 weeks ago but I haven't had a response so I didn't want to send another to the same place if its wrong.

Cheers

Andy

That's the one I have Andy.

Mod Edit : That info might be best via PM ;)

Thanks Trev, I'll give him a bell tomorrow.

Who the hell is Brian Mickleboro......? and can I sell him some double glazing on that number

Yes......if you have the right patter......

If you do contact him could you report back please Andy, as my Rolleiflex is due a service.

Thanks Lloyd, excellent.

I haven't as yet Trev as I am currently in negotiations to swap the big old Fuji GW for an Automat so I will wait until that arrives to see if I need to send them both to Brian. Probably be next week when I contact him.

Andy

I know, we can be Automat buddies....:D

I'm not sure yet. I'm waiting for a quote on trade-in from Fffordes then I shall check out the one they have in. It actually looks like a model 1 but I need the serial number to be sure.

Andy

Got a link to it? I got my automat from Ffordes. It was the £99 one with 'hazy optics'.

Just had an email back from Newton & Ellis. CLA with them is from £100 +VAT...

How much is Brian?!

A lot cheaper I believe. I took my old Leica to Newton & Ellis and it cost nearly as much as I paid for the camera. To be fair it was a complete strip down overhaul and it worked like a dream after but it was expensive and took 6 weeks or more.

It was only cheap so I'm tempted to take the screen out and clean it myself. It looks like 4 tiny screws. What could go wrong ;)

I think I'd better email Brian as well!

I changed the screen in my Rolleicord and it was dead easy. The only thing to look out for is the leaf springs which can fly out and disappear. Once the top is off its a doddle to remove and clean the mirror, at least it was in all the other TLR's I've owned, don't see it would be any different in the Automat.

I can't say precisely, but Brian will be less. Wouldn't hurt to send him an email or call him, he's very friendly (which isn't always the case with repairmen!).

Is it time for a Rolleiflex meet?

Not sure which thread, but I did a post a week or so back about replacing the screen on my Autocord. I think basically anyone with 10 ompetent fingers could do it, PROVIDED they have a decent set of watchmaker's screwdrivers, preferably with a tiny bit of magnetism to help get the screws back in the hole, oh and a downlight and watchmaker's glass could be helpful as well! It was simple, except that it wasn't totally clear where all the springy clips went once I tried to put them back in (had to undo and redo them), and the screws are very tiny and very close to the VF, which also tends to move around until you've got at least 2 of them screwed in. I gave up...

I've got some draper precision ones. Think I'll wait until I get the first film back before I mess with it too much...I suspect me, tiny screws, little springs and glass are recipe for a disaster :D

Just emailed Brian. Hopefully he'll get back to me before the urge to take it to bits myself overwhelms...

Too late. Had to take it to bits after I finished the roll. Cleaned underside of view finder, inside of viewing lens and dusted mirror. Think it would benefit from a new mirror. All went back together without much of a fight. Which was nice.

Managed to forget about the precise drop down focussing thingy while shooting. Guess the first roll was just testing shutter speeds and apertures work.... Oops.

I just got my 2.8F back from Brian for a shutter fix + general service. Very happy with the camera and his work, it took just under a week for all the work to be done. I'll be sending my MX-EVS to him soon!

What payment methods does he accept? I asked in my last email but I haven't had a reply yet. Does he only email on Sundays?! I'm being impatient but I want this little box of delights fully working as soon as it is possible :)

He accepts cheque and bank transfer. Not sure on paypal though. I didn't email him, just called him to say I'd be sending a camera in and to call me back with a quote.

He really needs a website with all this basic info on! It would save him hours repeating himself to the same email queries :)

The impression that I always got from Brian was that if work came in, he would do it, but he wouldn't need to push himself any more than that. And, in all fairness, most independent camera techs have a pretty woeful (or nonexistent) internet presence.

Good morning guys,
Just wandered whether anyone could help with contact details for Brian Mickleboro please?
I can only find the old tel number and email.
I am trying to find somebody to repair a Rollei 35 S
Thank you
