He would have had to wait until she was eighteen in this case. A teacher cannot have a relationship with a pupil under his/her care if she/he is under eighteen. I don't know if a teacher can even have a relationship with a pupil from another school.had he waited less than a year he would legally have been fine (but still quite morally wrong in any book)

This is always the problem with this type of situation, while it may legally be classed as child abduction due to her age, it is obvious she went willingly and was not actually "abducted"
But as said, he is in for a world of pain now, no job, being put on the sex offenders register, and little hope of finding a new job................ all for the sake of a fling with a 15 year old, had he waited less than a year he would legally have been fine (but still quite morally wrong in any book)

The only thing that really perplexes me in all this is how a thirty year-old married 'professional' didn't think this though to some degree of conclusion at least. A first-year kid at his school with a modicum of common sense could have summarised exactly how this was going to pan out. Is this the level of intellect we have teaching some of the nations youth these days?![]()
love (if it was love) makes people do odd things..?
Yes, maybe he fell in lust

The whole age of consent thing has been skewed in this country since before I was old enough (not yesterday). Marriage in Scotland at sixteen, smoking was sixteen but is now eighteen. Drink at eighteen, or perhaps fourteen if with a meal when accompanied by parents. Taxable (theoretically) at sixteen. Driving at seventeen.
So, you can get married and consummate it at sixteen, but you can't drive off on honeymoon, you can't drink to celebrate (or have a cigar) and you can't watch a film depicting that which you can do with your wife three times a day. You can go off in the Army and put your life on the line but you can't vote for those who would send you to your death.
No wonder life as a teenager is confusing!![]()
technically not..
" Under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, the abuse of a position of trust is a criminal offence
The age of consent for sexual intercourse is ordinarily 16, but this does not apply under this Act
Instead, a person over the age of 18, who is in a position of trust over a person under 18, commits a criminal offence if they involve the younger person in sexual activity"
still think its been blown out of proportion though.

Am I the only one who wanted them to make a go of it and not get caught?
What Im saying is this whole episode will have been driven by lust..

She's underage - regardless of age, or how 'grown up' they can appear at times, she is legally a child.
Got to be boundaries, surely....??
Feel sorry for the guys missus tbh.

I guess there is going to be some technical legal term, but I don't think there was 1 oz of abduction here, I know the legal eagles will say/think different.
I understand that, I was replying to someone who asked if he was the only one who wished them good luck. I replied "yes" because I think he's probably the only one who wishes them good luck.
neil_g said:i know its a little different a being a teacher but young girls 15+ have been in relationships with 20-30+ men for years. certainly a few girls when i was at school were seeing 30 year olds etc, its nothing new really.
maybe i should say attraction makes people do odd things..
