BRASH???

Brash was one of the more lucid members of the forum, I do miss his comments,to get upset by someone who calls himself "Brash" displays a rather pathetic disposition but the whimps appear to have had their way.

Who are "the whimps"?

Shall we get some 'T' shirts printed? :D

There's certainly a few on TP worse than Brash was.......he was good for the banter, said it like it was and didn't go into a thread making snide remarks just to get a re-action.

Haha... Banners and boards and loiter the staffroom as well as T shirts!

To clarify, if I join with the name "axe wielding murderer" it would be pathetic for anyone to get upset if I acted like one? Or "Stalker" "Troll" ...

The forum has an ignore option and brash has been on mine for a very long time, because he behaved like a dick quite simply. If you choose to associate with a group, join a forum or any organisation that has rules of behaviour you are rightly expected to abide by them.

Nah! What the hell do we want him back for.:D

I'd quite happily exchange him for a small group of the 'elite' :D

I think the main problem was in the name Brash and how people interpreted it. I used to he was a c**k who felt he had to live up to the name but the more I interacted with him on here, the more I changed mi mind. If you tret it as banter and not an insult, gave a little light hearted banter back, I found I quite liked the chap :)

In my opinion, he certainly didn't have his head up his own ar*e like a few on here...........opps, nearly forgot the obligatory :) to show it wasn't meant to cause offence ;)

I often see this, and I can never make sense of it. I've never noticed 'an elite' in the 4 years or so I've been a regular contributor. Who are this elite?

Back to the subject at hand, I liked his critique and his no nonsense attitude.

I could live without the mysoginy and homophobia - but no-one's perfect.

I always liked his honest critique

 not for the first time eh Phil!
At this point I'm unsure we share a common language, but as I'm English I'll just repeat myself but louder.

Who are the elite that you speak of?

I thought it was a simple question:thinking:

He came across pretty much as his user name indicates but for all that you could have a bit of playful banter with him, regarding the misogyny and homophobia not sure if that wasn't a bit of an act too. There are some on TP who are more racist, misogynistic and homophobe but they're a little bit more subtle with it. Looking back over his last few posts can't say I had seen anything that warranted a ban so maybe it was something to do with PM's. Perhaps a mod can enlighten us?

You see its at this point where I start to think you are looking for a reaction, maybe trying to belittle me, make me look stupid.....of coarse I could be wrong, maybe I misinterpret your humour........anyway, which ever it is........I'm too thick skinned to give a f**k! :D

WTF?

It's just a question. One I'd be interested in the answer to.

I wonder if what Phil means is there are plenty of prolific posters that are very abrupt/to the point/say it as it is etc and they get to stay because they are, I dunno, well known? Considered good for the forum? Wise? Knowledgeable...
Which I believe Brash was too but maybe because it was mainly bird forum wasn't deemed so important?

Edit....Yes I know and appreciate he could be a complete cockledoodledoo at times lol

Maybe its just me then and an 'elite' doesn't exist :)
I don't think theres an elite in this forum, that indicates some who have special privileges or certain benefits, and thats not something I feel happens on TP. Now, a clique thats a different matter.

There's lots of "opinionated to the point of being blunt" members... (I'd probably be on that list, tbh, if I didn't have to rein things in a little due to the green badge...)

Most of them, at some point have been given "holidays" or other sanctions which we don't often mention. These breaks are often 1 day or so at a time, and don't always show up on everyones radar. Sometimes even the staff miss that they've happened, so we try where ever possible to keep notes on every time someone gets sent to the naughty step. Lets just say some people had their own reserved stair (complete with worn out carpet where they rested their ass every other week)

How about, it's a simple f*****g question?

He must mean you then Phil V. But doesn't want to tell you to your face. </stirring>

He was fine, sometimes rude, insulting, harsh, critical, OTT and even brash ......... but he has many positive points ............straight talking, honest, (to himself), reasonably fair, experienced and took some, (he may be watching) very good bird shots

He was above all consistent and supported the forum over the years ........ some people just did not want to understand him, which was a great pity

A lot of (bird) heads, (even the ones who contributed to him + 2 others being banned), have taken his very good advice, applied it and improved their photography and we should thanks him for that

Of course he is missed by some and not at all by others ......... I fall into the former category ..................

great pity ......... but who am I say say - I have been suspended three times and god who's how many RTM's have been send to the Mods by the "great and the good" .. I had my last warning last week, but I still do not understand why, never do? ........so I will probably end up that way

There are a number of members who've disappeared/been banned from here over the years I've been a member some I miss others I don't. I think brash was as his name said but I'm far to thick skinned to let him or others bother me and most of the time found him quite funny and I think the brash banter was a front he liked to live up to. Either way it's irrelevant as now he's gone and I don't know why but I'm sure he had his chance to toe the line and opted not to.

I had my last warning last week, but I still do not understand why, never do?
It seems you were given a 1 point warning for personal insult in a thread, you were then given another point for continuing the "argument" in a totally un related thread,
where you knew the "subject" wouldn't see it.

Previous to that 3 points had been earned ( giving you a day off) where you "attacked" someone else.
As the 3 points were still active, that made a total of 5 points.
5 points = 3 days off.

You should have automatically been notified of the warnings issued.

Speaking from experience there is a fundamental flaw in the Suspension/Banning procedure

You get suspended - so you cannot see the forum - what you see are two inbox messages - but you cannot read them until your suspension is lifted - so you never see the first warning because it is posted AFTER you have been blocked out of the forum
The contact us - to find out why you have been banned, (you can usually guess why), does not work - so you cannot send a PM to ask why

The basic problem is in my view two sided - we insult each other, argue and get nasty on the one hand, (but that can be fun) ........ BUT and this is a big but we are told to used the "ignore" button BUT some members much prefer to use the RTM button - (this is my understanding)

When I first joined the Forum, I thought Brash was a t***, (to use a good old Yorkshire word), but I got to know him and have learned a lot from his comments/adcice, for which I thank him .......

The system maybe needs a review ...... but (as) if you look at all the "suspension/banning" threads, you will see several common-denominators, in each thread

IMHO it is a sad-er place without "the lad" but as I said I thought that he was a t*** when I first joined and I can see why others may dislike him ... and can understand generally why he was banned

BUT as the Mods keep saying - use the ignore button, not the RTM button and maybe the inflammation will die down - and in any case I am told that the Mods read EVERY posting so they should be able to deal with the situation

maybe people should be banned for not using the ignore button?

I presume that I was notified, but when I came back to the forum I was locked out, saw that there were two messages in my Inbox but could not see them until I was unbanned

I was not the only one who continued the argument?

Is there any explanation of the points system somewhere on the forum - what did Neil do to get banned for 2 weeks, (if I may ask the question)

My last warning, as stated in the thread was my last and final warning, so I must have accumulated a shed load of points

Of course it does, anyone can contact us as a "guest"
And we reply to the registered / provided email address.

and in any case I am told that the Mods read EVERY posting so they should be able to deal with the situation
Of course we don't read every post that would be impossible.
We do however read every contact us or RTM, discuss, and act accordingly.

I have tried on the page showing that I am banned to hit the contact us button, but it never works for me

Oh I see - if I want to contact you after being banned - I need to contact you as a "guest"
