Yes
I had a look at the sports stadium thread, but couldn't find any info.
Anyone been to Bradford City?
What's the 'best' focal length (thinking I might need to hire a biggie).
Club says you sit on the sides and looking at pics there isn't much room between the pitch and the barriers.
Anything to pad that very basic info?

not sure on parking, from what i remember pick up pass from reception in main stand.
press room is a nice size, tea/coffee and a few butties.
decent ground to shoot at. floodlights are poor though.
think you can sit anywhere. no wifi pitchside which is to be expected

Thanks, Chris. Going with the team so parking won't be an issue, and won't need to wifi. Didn't quite get the reply from them tho, "stay on the side of the pitch like all the other photographers. No access onto the actual pitch". What does that mean in real terms? I sort of assume that means behind the advertising boards, which is fine, looking at pics I've found of the ground. Floodlights are poor? Surely they are better than the non-league ones I'm used to!!

parking is streets... last few times I went it was behind goals only.. but some stewards said anywhere and others stewards move you on... seriously would double/triple check... funny people in yorkshire.. Great ground to photo at because of the massive stand in the background... last time I went was a night match.. got one of my better goalie shots http://www.kipax.com/gallery/index.php?action=view&album=ACCY/2604&image=20

Liking the shot! Might get in touch with the club once I know exactly when the game will be, as our secretary made the recent contact. Would it be worth renting a 300mm (on a 1.6x) for the game?

whats the game?

a 300 is great if your half way and shooting both ends.. not alot of advantage if behind a goals though....IMHO .. Wil it be a day or night match?

Not sure yet as an FA Cup match and might be televised. I'm thinking that Dartford will struggle against a league one side, so was planning mid-way or Bradford end to capture action (of Dartford's defenders ...). I feel limited by the 70-200 to a quadrant of the pitch. Could think of a 300mm on the 1.6x crop which would make it 480mm or on the 1.3x crop which makes it 390mm. Cost of hiring (and deposit), was wondering about buying a 300mm f4 and then reselling. Any thoughts?

cant see a 300 f4 being much use at a bradford match.

agreed.. in fact theres not many ground I would attempt f4 under floodlights..

if your going for dartford then surely you want the dartford end... in case of an upset ?.. If its not on the Tue 18th then I might go and I would deffo cover dartford end...

OK, so not an f/4.0. What I've found is that if I stick to the Dartford end, I often get next to nothing usable when playing a stronger team, since all the action is midfield or the far end! I'll look into hiring a f/2.8 possibly, but its probably going to be too pricey, esp as we may go the day before so a weekend hire won't work, esp if its a Sunday game. I think the matches have to be played around the first week in December, but if its televised it probably won't be on the Saturday. If you go, that would be great, look forward to seeing you! Will advise as soon as the date is confirmed.

Why not have a word with Kellie and see if you can borrow her 300 for a few beers?

Unfortunately I have Charlton U18s v Millwall on the 6th so will be in need of my lens. Sorry

Oh well it was only an idea.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I would have hesitated to ask to borrow a lens "just in case". I think I will probably end up with what I usually use.
