Are there any current players on here that can help.

One of my relatives was keen on Bowls right up to her death some years back.

She was a keen player and had a club pin collection which she treasured. Her daughter rang me to say she had been downsizing to move and had found the collection and asked if they were of valuable.

I have no idea but said I would ask around.

The club she was a member of has been gone some time.

Two questions really

Was the swapping of club pins a thing done in competitions

Are they still in use?

A sneaky extra question - do they have value for collectors like stamps and coins. I am guessing that may be an additional query. I would gess there is a couple of hundred of them. My gut feeling is the market would be limited?

Any pointers would be great. My collecting hobby is stamps and, apart from the obvious big hitters, the value is, in many cases, less that face value.

My father was President of the EBA, and later the EBF.

Club pins were and are still exchanged.

National championship badges (10 counties hangers for example) are collectable, but worth very little money-wise.

Pins are not worth very much, they really are just a way of exchanging friendships in the bowling fraternity.

My suggestion would be to find a local bowling club and donate the collection to them.

Many thanks for that info. Bowls is a lost country to me but now I can answer the hidden question! I know it will be asked.

Many thanks. As mentioned above Bowls is mot my thing but each to their own.

I will suggest to my relative that she finds a local club as you suggest.

Try to find out if the club's involved are Federation or Association.
There's still a healthy rivalry, even though they don't really mix!
TV bowls is played to Association rules.
