Hi All,

We purchased some Bowens XMS 1000's about a year and a half ago, maybe longer? (before Bowens went into liquidation).

However as of last week one of our Bowens XMS 1000's just does not want to work, we have changed fuses, Model Lamps and flash tubes and still getting no joy with the unit.

The lights do not sit around for long periods of time but are infact used daily, we have older Bowens (gemini's) units which are still going strong and currently being used in replacement for the faulty XMS.

The "flash" option on the back of the head does not illuminate so we cannot test fire the unit or use it, as of right now it is being a glorified paper weight.

Has anyone experience this before and if so what can be done to rectify it?, I'd hate to think the unit has already had it.

Thanks for reading,

Look forward to responses.

Stephen.

You won't find many people who used a XMS/XMT head let alone own one unfortunately, expensive and so close to when they were shut down I'd suspect the eBay seller who sold off the remaining stock sold more than Bowens did (I may be exaggerating slightly).

I'm not an engineer or electrician so I probably shouldn't even say this but given what you've described I'd guess it's a control/power board issue (as it's not coming to the ready state) and not something you can easily fix, hopefully I'm wrong but your best bet is to take it to Fixation, I seem to recall they still covered some warranties or worst case a normal paid for repair if they still have parts.
