Anyone using this softlite reflector please and what do you think of it, is it a replacement for a softbox and are there any alternative options that may give the same effect.

It's what Bowens call a beauty dish. The Lencarta (or any other make) 40cm beauty dish will produce pretty much identical light for far less money - the silver version will give slightly more contrasty light and the warm white one slightly less.

With a diffuser (shower cap) fitted it will give a broadly similar effect to that of a softbox of the same size, but it would be a very small softbox...

Without the diffuser it gives a much more controlled light, you can see examples of the lencarta 70cm beauty dish here both with and without a diffuser. TBH, the 70cm is much more versatile than the smaller ones.
 
Thanks Garry for the detailed explanation and links and certainly cheaper.
 
Also the supper huge bowens sunlight with additional adaptor might be a better choice but quite costly.
