Hi All

a few years ago, I had a camtree car rig. It was perfect for what I needed, but not big enough to capture a full car shot.

After roughly 30 people asking me "can you get full driving shots?" I decided to treat myself.

CCM kits start at £595 upto a ridiculous £2,000+ so I decided to make my own. Hague kits start at £230 exc vat, but i didn't like the style of theirs.

Bought these goodies from wex for £270, and got the pipework from CEF for £10.

first shoot is booked for sunday (weather permitting) at a nice little private road near to my house.

I will update with a few pictures over the weekend

I know how it goes, so I interested to see
what you will commit with it… ;-)

Witj my last rig, it wasn't the best. I was leaving it too long, and using the wrong lens for it. I've been playing around with settings, so my new take on them should be interesting :)

Well, I took the rig out.

straight away i noticed a huge flaw, the pipe i used not being strong enough. Don't get me wrong, it held the camera. But, it did bounce a little even at rolling speed.

I've now ordered some 2.5" pipe to do the job, which is used by hague.

Not 100% happy with the outcome, must improve!

Trial and error but it still produces a great image so well done. Still saving u a huge amount of money too haha! I'd love to try this one day but a little reluctant to commit to the kit just yet haha :)

In total, my kit has only cost me £305, a lot cheaper than a kit from ccr or hague. it was definitely trial and error. hopefully, my new bar comes this week so I can try again next weekend :)

thank you,

Crikey, is that attached the car with a rubber sucker? That's a leap of faith??

Mind, they lift a ton of glass with the same.

Makes me a little nervous about the fate of the camera on the end of the boom. Bet you don't use your best camera there.

Look forward to seeing the results.

Good luck

Yeah haha it's my second camera. the suction is ridiculously tough!

Thank you for the link, SDUK. I've just joined it on fb.

I need to ask, what settings are you using for day shots? When i tried the 2 second shot with f22 it was way too bright. that's with iso 100. i put an nd10 filter on and went down to f5.6 and it was fine? really can't figure it out.
