Bought a secondhand Lencarta Softbox but the speedring isnt as expected..

I bought a 120cm lencarta octabox off evil bay, the chap said he had used it with bowens lighting so I assumed lencarta / bowens, must have a s fit speedring...

well its got this and I've no idea what to do with it!

Anyone got any suggestions?

Send it back, not as described.
What you have there is a 'universal' fitting for flash heads that don't have any kind of speedring (don't have removable reflectors).

Lencarta used to sell them a few years ago - and may do so again as there are some left in the warehouse.
 
Ah nuts. He didn't actually state it had an s type fitting, I just assumed with it being lencarta. More fool me.

I guess it's my fault as it is a lencarta softbox. Damn.

There isn't an adaptor I can get is there?
 
No, there are no adapters I'm afraid.

FWIW and I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the universal speedring is too small to fit any Bowens head, so I doubt whether the seller was being honest.
 
Can I ask what you paid for it?

Was about £45 phil, why do you ask?

I should of checked the fixture but being lencarta I didn't realise it might be different.
I'll prob end up selling it on, though I will advertise it clearly.
 
Because I have Lencarta lights that accept that fitting and I also have a large s-fit rectangular softbox which I was going to sell at some point in the near future.

Wondered if you'd consider a swap I guess.

Yep I'll definitely do a swap. This is no good to me. Shall we agree a straight swap? I can post this to you tomorrow or weds.

Just measured it - it is 120cm by 80cm.

Cheers Phil, i have a card from the mailman (only nipped out for 5 mins, typical!) will collect this afternoon.

the octabox was sold as perfect condition, alegedly only used once. It should do you well and hopefully yours will help me out till I scrape the money together in a few months for an octa that fits!

Well - putting it together was fun & I haven't worked out how to collapse it yet (next stop Lencarta's website) but all looks great!
