Well, being hanged, drawn and quartered apparently involved a brief dangle followed by disembowelling (while still alive) before the corpse (don't think many were still alive after step 2!) was cut into 4 pieces and displayed around the town. Google Mike the chicken for a mildly ghoulish story of decapitation!
