Praktica MTL5B - What flash should I be looking out for? Anyway to use it off camera? Feeling creative

Thats got a PC flash sync lead connection, just buy a nice long lead and plug it into the camera and flash. That way you've got an off camera flash.
Looking at the camera online it looks like it doesn't have a hotshoe anyway just a cold one so you might as well get a short lead as well for on camera work. Alternatively you could get one of those hotshoe adapters like Hama do, I use one on my Zenit EM.

BTW a PC sync cord has nothing to do with computers as might be though, its name (I can't remember it) predates computers by decades.

You can use a slave flash, wireless remote, or just a cable flash - up to you really.

Where is the PC Flash sync lead on the Praktika?
