Probably easy to do, but hoping someone can help....

Trying to put borders on some photos like in this thread and keep the aspect ratio of the overall image the same. ie as a 6x4 or 7x5 etc etc

I can get the first border using stroke, but then if I try to add a second, it overwrites the first.

Anyone offer advice?? Using CS3
Thanks

Image>Canvas Size

Mount = Select "Pixels" in the drop down menu, add say 20-100 pixels to existing dimensions (dependimg on image res). Click OK

If too big or too small hold down Ctrl+Alt+Z to undo and try again.

Frame = Repeat the procedure (Image>Canvas Size) this time choosing black and add say 40-200 pixels to existing dimensions (depending on image res). Click OK.

I cheat sometimes and use the crop tool tp add canvas, drag out the crop and let go then drag it outside the image to the amout of border you want (it defaults to the background colour set on the colour boxes on the left toolbar)

thanks for the replys guys. Will give some of these a go.
I guess keeping the aspect ratio could be trial and error!!

If you add the same size border all the way round, then it will marginally change the aspect ratio. The amount it changes by is dependent on the size of the border.

If you want to strictly maintain aspect ratio, then the border thickness should be added in the same ratio as your image i.e if the image is 6x4 then the border should be 1.5 times wider along the short edges than it is along the long edges.
