Border/edge effects

hi

a question to any image editing gurus out there. I'm trying to create some fancy edges to some photo's, a couple of examples here of the effect i'm trying to achieve..

is there some way i can do this in PS without purchasing expensive plug-ins
or does anyone know of any farely cheap software?

yes you can do that sort of thing in PS, you need to make a new layer with your image, and have the background white (or whatever colour you like) then you can use a brush tool to remove the foreground with patterns etc

Best thing to do is have a play, you can get frames, i think i have a load on a cover disk somewhere

Hi Stupot,
I''ve written a small tutorial for you about how to do the second style of border (in photoshop) - only thing is I was not sure you'd be able to read the text if I posted it as a 600px image here so I've saved it as a JPG & will email it to you if you want - I'm new to this forum so am not sure if theres a PM service or any other way of me getting it to you (its over the file sizes).
Just let me know if you want me to mail it to you or whatever.
