Boots increases its range of Ilford film for sale.

I am not a regular film user any longer but bought some Ilford FP4 36 Exp. about two years ago as an impulse purchase in Boots.

Interesting reading the press release that they are 'Re-introducing' FP4 36 Exp.

The 120 is the big news for me. The buy-one-get-one-half-price offer could make them very competitive for 120 HP5, and very convenient.

To be fair, I've just checked and my local store have HP5 120 in stock. When you go for the "Buy 1 get 2nd half price" offer that's £10.48 and I can pick it up for free tomorrow. In comparison, the same film from Discount Films Direct with the cheapest postage (Royal Mail 48, 2-3 working days) is £12.05 so fair play to Boots. I was looking at picking up some fast B&W before the Megameet so think I might take them up on it.

Unfortunately my local Boots doesn't stock any film, or at least they didn't last time I checked about 6 months ago.

I think you can get it for 4 quid a roll at calumet cant you? (off to check the prices!)

Calumet do HP5+ for £4.00 per roll but then add £4.99 postage making it £12.99 for two. They're better if you're buying more to offset the postage but for me, collecting for free from the Boots branch down the road will work out cheaper. Wonder when they'll start to stock Velvia... ;0)

I've not bought film from boots for years, mostly emergency hp5 in 135. But if they start selling fp4 then I might be tempted back.

There is a calumet but it's the complete opposite side of town and a b****r to get to.

Coolz

Boots is significant, everybody's got a Boots, where the hell is Calumet ?

I remember years ago my best pal talking about buying a Mini, he was asking about availability of parts, I said you're joking you can get Mini parts from Boots, which wasn't actually true ofcourse but it was a measure of the ease at which they could be bought.
To be able to associate Boots with film availability in those terms, won't do film any harm at all.

TBH, I'll be just glad I can buy 120 film on the high street again because its a struggle at the moment with no jessops

The Boots.com option potentially works though, if you can pick it up next day at your local Boots... Both the 135 FP4 and the 120 HP5 are currently listed, £6.99 each IIRC (note I think Steve said essentially this a few posts back sorry).

I noticed some HP5 in 120 in a local Boots a few days ago; I'm not keen on HP5 but if they stock FP4 in 120 then it will be good to know that option exists. Whilst there are cheaper suppliers, with many you have to have a large order to make the postage cost worthwhile.

I like the idea of ordering on line then picking up from a local store. Before their demise, Jessops used to do this. Although their prices were not the cheapest, there was no postage to pay so for small orders such as a bottle of fixer, it was cost effective.

Steve.

they also have 5 packs of fuji C200 at £16 so 2 bags gives 10 rolls for £24 which is ok if you havnt got a poundland nearby

There are a couple of Poundlands here with another one opening in my town soon. I always forget to look for film when I am in them though.

Steve.

That's really nice news. I'm not a fan of hp5 in 35mm as I don't like its grain, but I quite like it in 120. The tonality on the larger neg works for me.

If Calumet weren't within walking distance for me, then I'd probably make good use of Boots for HP5 in 120. This is definitely a positive development for film users.

Local Boots has 135 FP4 at... £7.49!!!

if you buy 2, its £5.61 a roll

they've always stocked 35mm though, 120 is the big news, somebody should have a word, HP5..???, if they're gonna make 120 available they ought to do a 100 speed film, fp4 or acros or something

Wow! That's a big change from the last time I used HP5 - it used to be a negative rather than a positive... :coat:

More seriously, it seem that there are a couple of places in town that do proper wet dev and print so I might be tempted back into fillum - if I can find something suitable down the road in Mifsuds... Maybe after holiday!

Might get some 35mm and give my old Olympus AF1 a go, came across it yesterday when looking for something else

Especially good deal for me as I get 22% discount off Boots branded stuff courtesy of my daughter who works for them

I've just taken advantage of this and ordered 1 roll of 120 and 1 roll of 35mm which will be ready to collect from the Boots store 2 minutes from my office tomorrow so should be spot on.

At the moment 7dayshop are doing HP4 and 5 at £4.39 and £4.49 for single rolls including delivery.

sweet. Still, the boots news is good if you just wanna grab some film :)

You've chosen the wrong listing. They definitely offer a number of films, including FP4 and HP5, with free delivery.

Weird isn't it? Cheaper as well as free delivery!

The cynic in me would say the cheaper listing is so they can banner advertise the deal whereas the higher price listing is there 'in case' someone doesn't see the cheaper one.
