The TP52 - 2026 Boots 52 for 2026

Reminds me of my retinopathy examination, nice idea Paul

Week 7 - Reflections in Water

Happened to buy some flowers today - who knows what got into me?

One of the flower heads fell off, so it seemed a shame to waste it.

I like the negative space at the bottom of the frame and the strong colour against the black.

I like the flower shot, very nice

Ticks all the boxes and well executed Paul.

Week 8 - Vintage Objects

Vintage Objects.jpg

From 1961 (as the name implies) or 1962, I think this probably counts.

And, yes, it works perfectly (which is more than be said for me of a similar vintage)

Puts me nicely into the vintage category too, nice clean shot of the watch

Classy watch, nicely pictured. How did you avoid reflections from the glass ?

Thanks Simon!

I used a softbox (60x60cm) as close as I could get it to the watch. A bit of fiddling about with angles, and a reflector to cast some light on the lower edge of the watch case, and Bob's your uncle.

This watch has a fairly flat crystal, so was quite straightforward. I have another watch with a high domed crystal, which was very tricky to light. But that one isn't vintage, so isn't relevant here!

The black bag goes well with the blue strap and the gold watch. Nice light too.

Week 9 - Time and Technique - Low Key

Time.jpg

I was trying for the feel of a clock in the middle of the night, with a shaft of light hitting the pendulum.

The viewers will have to decide if I achieved that.

The eye is definitely drawn to the pendulum, it's only after that when the clock face gives a context.
