weekly Boots' 52 for 2023

good contrast with the rough and smooth. Also good contrast with the B/W.

Vent looks like it has a huge crow's nest on the top.

I love a magnolia, ours is still to come out.

Smooth, fits the bill.

Nice set of catch ups Paul.

Love magnolias, though they never last that long in flower sadly.

Rough with the smooth is a great idea and fits the theme nicely.

Nice set of catch-up shots.

Very colourful graffiti vent. Love the mute colour of the magnolias' spring flowers and a clever take on the smooth theme.

Thanks all!

Good catch up the vent really stands out with the light through the trees.
Smooth is a nice idea kind of what I was going for myself the rough and the smooth.

Lovely Spring shot. I like magnolias, its s shame they don't last very long! One of my neighbours' has one in their front garden, and the lovely smell you get walking past is a nice way to start a walk!

Nice set Paul. The tunnel is good and different. The pebbles lovely and smooth.

I love the magnolia, the colours are really calming.

Lovely magnolia shot and I do like the mono treatment of the shot for the smooth theme.

Week 15 - Snapper's Choice

Inspiration for Snapper's Choice was in very limited supply, until I saw a pair of Mandarin Ducks.

It was my plan to get closer... much closer, but they felt differently on the subject.

Week 16 - Connected

Well, it's connected, but not in a good way...

Lovely colours on the duck, would have been great to get a much closer one... but at least you got something before they fled!

There's a lot of connections there. Looks quite a new vehicle, doesn't get driven much hence charging battery??

I've never been able to sneak up on a duck I have a lot of similar duck on the move pics.

Good idea for connection

Thanks Graham! Yes, classic case of post-pandemic, post-retirement, use it or lose it, battery demise. It *seems* to be responding to trickle charging.

I've never been able to sneak up on a duck I have a lot of similar duck on the move pics.

Good idea for connection

Thanks Allan!

Love the elegant pose of the duck.
Connected. That's one thing I hate having to do.. hope it works!

Well spotted and good idea to just capture the wiggly reflection.

Good reflection shot though a somewhat unusual crop.

Week 18 - Distant & Technique, Composite

Photographically uninspiring, but it is distant!

The church spire is, according to Google Maps, 680m more distant than the tower, which in turn is 330m from the camera.

500mm mirror lens on a crop frame camera, hence 800mm equivalent. Since the lens only provides a fixed f/8, and the churches are so far apart, the Depth of Field would not encompass both at the same time...

So, I present, a focus stack of three images (trees, tower and spire). Theme and Technique in one boring image!

Fits the theme and sorts the technique!

Clever :)

Job done nicely! I have a feeling I will be struggling with composite...

Week 19 - Fragile

No need for sympathy - it's not me, and it's an old x-ray.

A reminder of the fragility of humans.

If anyone is searching for the break and struggling; it's a spiral fracture at the bottom of the fibula. Not easy to spot.

I'm very glad it's not you, a nasty bone to break apparently. Great idea for the theme.
