A very long shot and an odd one this but worth the ask.

I'm not 100% sure but it would have been a Christmas around 1980. I'd been wanting this radio cassette player all year and I had persuaded my parents to get me it for Christmas.

Now, I find myself being all nostalgic, or maybe it's a mid life crisis, of which I've had a few. I want another one, they are rare as hen's teeth but I have found one on EBay. They hold their money and this one is £65 but is a bit beat up, which can be expected for something of that age. If it were cheaper, I'd probably go for it, depending on working condition too of course. It's listed as "good working order", which is a broad term.

Anyway, the model is Bush BR5902. Siemens did a remake of it in the 90s and that model number is Club RM722 and there's also a Club RM723. I'd prefer the Bush but I'd settle for the Siemens.

Like I say, a long shot, but if anybody knows of, or where I could possibly find one of these models, I'd love to hear about it. I'm all searched out, I've tried the web, E Bay, Gumtree and browsed some Boombox forums but to no real avail except for the beat up one on E Bay.

Ta much,

If you get one, also get a blank C60; with old decks, worn pinch rollers can cause wow/flutter, stretched/perished drive belts can lead to tape eating.
Recording the radio to the blank, then playing it back should help show up any deck problems without risking anything irreplaceable.

Thanks for the replies and sorry for the slow reply, been dealing with a migraine (amongst other things) but I've not bought the EBay one yet, I think it's little overpriced and it's about to end. It's a Buy It Now, so we'll see if it comes up cheaper next time, if it does come up at all.

I have in the meantime bought a retro type player, tha plays an I Pod intead of a cassette and it looks very similar to the EBay unit. It was an Argos return and was retailing at £79.99 at one point but I got it for £15, with a damaged box and a small scratch on the unit itself, which is difficult to see.

I'll still be searching for the original though. (y)

The scratch adds authenticity. :-)
I remember my huge Panasonic boombox from the 80's fondly.

Nostalgia, love it!

I also remember my Raliegh Chopper fondly, black, with that flashy silver decal stuff. TCR, that was brill.

I still want my boombox though.

Scooters with a brake behind your heel, that you never managed to use before you hit the wall at the bottom of the hill. :ROFLMAO:

I had a maroon one of those; unnoticed rust made the back wheel come off when I stamped the brake on a hill. Very quick stop.

Scooters were never my thing really but I rememebr those brakes well. My Daughter's scooter currently uses the same (she's 6) but thankfully, our street is flat.

Biggest stop I ever did was on, well technically off my Chopper, pulling the front brake in on newly laid asphalt. It didn't end well and I still have the scars on my elbows with the occasional emergence of said asphalt from said scars , even to this day. :jawdrop:

The really scary thing is, I'm 50 now and remember all this like it was 2 minutes ago. I remember taking the boombox out of its box on that Christmas morning vividly and I would've been about 12. The smell of new electronics and the first ever words it pronounced in the immortal words of Richard Burton, " No-one would've believed that in the last years of the 19th Century, that human affairs were being watched from the timeless worlds of space". Yep, I had that tape for Christmas too.

Got a little trip next weekend, and that CD is now ready in the car so I don't forget. (48 here, btw :-) )

swapped my cassette version for something or other as a lad, I have the CD version though. Awesome, and never ages, unlike me.
