Can anyone recommend a good book for a total beginner getting in dslr. Something that teach from Basics. Iso,aperture etc onwards. Either a normal book or ebook so I can read when jaw no Internet access

The Digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby is a good bet too. Comes in 3 volumes. Loads of good advice and easy to understand. They were going for about £15 for all 3 on Amazon a while ago, not sure about now.
 
Not sure what camera you have but when I first got my Nikon D90, I bought the Dummies Guide and can whole heartedly recommend it, as it moved me away from the Auto settings and onto the manual settings.

Havent got my camera yet, hoping to get it next week, when i can decide what 1 im going to go for!.

On recomendation I bought the relevant book for my camera by Jeff Revel. As he states in the book I'm using it in conjunction with the manual and finding it very easy to follow. :thumbs:
 
As has been mentioned, the Field Guide for your camera, if available, is excellent, I found mine to be a godsend. When you get your camera remember to read the manual thoroughly.

On a side note and if you have an iPhone/iPad there may well be a video book. I got one for the EOS 60D and it is brilliant but a little costly.

+1 for the Scott Kelby book my other half got me them for exams 2 years ago and still learning from them.

Does that make me sounds simple?

Yeah please advise on video, be very handy to have something like that on the iPad, rather than me ripping a DVD in and converting :-)

For aperture, ISO etc go for Understanding Exposure it is an excellent book.

I agree a very useful book. The tutorials on here are really good as well.

Try YouTube. Some great tutorials on there where you can see demonstrations too. A basic YouTube search should turn up some helpful results.
 
Are there any good books on composition and developing your 'artisitc eye'

Really getting annoyed with my photos now, I go out with the great ideas and end up with a load of rubbish when I get home and upload them :lol:
 
I would suggest that as well as a book on the basics of Photography all beginners should have had at least a read of Light, Science & Magic, a great book on how to use light in your images.

I have been involved with Photography since 1979, a full time Pro for a number of years in the 90s and I still refer to that book occasionally.
