I have got quite interested in photo manipulation / montage and would like to buy a book on the subject to learn all about it. The only book I have found only covers one chapter but cost about £25.00:gag: Can anyone recommend a book that looks at realistic photo-manipulation using photography only ???

Thanks

I'm not sure exactly what your after but theres
Photoshop CS5 trickery and FX by Stephen M Burns for a start, there are others but I'd have to look and see for the names.

"How To Cheat In Photoshop" teaches the steps neccesary for montage work. There is also an accompanying forum

Some of the ILEX books can be helpful. The most helpful I've found is Photoshop Elements: Drop Dead Fantasy Techniques by Derek Lea.

You can also find techniques/tutorials in the Photomanipulation section at DeviantArt.

You will find that to create a good standard photomontage requires several key techniques to master in order to complete the look. Key steps will be light and shadow.

Some Flickr users are good for inspiration.
