Books - Flash/Lighting & Portaits

any more geared towards strobes and speedlights in a portrait scenario

Light science and magic is the best book on light. It touches on portraiture briefly but ultimately the key to good lighting is knowing its properties, and then your ability to turn it into results.

I have shed loads of books. I may even sell some

I'll post a for sale thread over the weekend when I sort them out mate

ive seen this on amazon and i am looking more for something concentrating on portrait and flash and showing examples etc

Then to be honest mate you'll be better looking at tutorials and articles online OR taking a day course or two on lighting. I believe JonathanRyan does these for Lencarta at a very reasonable price.

Check it out :)

Thanks mate - is it worth owning the book aswell or is that ind of irrelevant now?

Not at all. Light science and magic is by far and away the best book I've read on lighting. You'll get a lot from it mate I guarantee it

Few things to start you off. Look at fstoppers.com and have a look through some behind the scenes stuff on there. Watch Sean Amenta's video on beauty lighting. It's simple beauty lighting, but it works.
