Hi.

I’m looking for suggestions for a book to learn to use Lighroom from scratch, rather than rely on the presets.

I know there’s videos on YT etc but I’d like something to read at my own pace and go through in front of my Mac.

Many thanks.

I found the book by ‘The Lightroom Queen’ to be helpful , sorry can’t remember her actual name
I think her surname is Kost and she has a big web presence under The Lightroom Queen. Her first name IIRC might be Jacqueline.

Could be Julianne Kost, who I think works for Adobe

A lot has changed in LR over the years and especially in the last year or two so my advice is to make sure you find yourself a new publication.

Thanks for your replies.

Just a little confused which LR I’m using- I think it’s Lightroom Cloud, as it’s on my Mac and it uploads to their online storage.

On that basis, so do I look for Lightroom Classic or CC for a book.

TIA

If is store you images in the cloud then it's CC

The MAc icon for Classic is LrC whereas the CC version is just Lr

For step by step basics I'd recommend the Scott Kelby LR book. You may not find the jokey writing style to your taste - I'm aware some find it annoying. Have a look to see if your library has any LR books so you can browse before investing

the good thing about the Victoria Bampton (aka Lightroom Queen) books is the Epub, PDF versions get updated for free for the foreseeable future.

that would be the non classic version if you have 1TB storage that came with it or either if it came with 20gb.
the tools are the same for editing but the cataloguing folder options differ somewhat

The books on Lightroom Queen (there are separate books for each version of LR) are updated every time there is a new release of the software. You get 12 months of free updates if you buy the current version of the book.
