As a complete begineer to PP, I have started to try to learn more about it. First I installed DPP and had a good play with that.

I then put on CS4 and have really really liked what ACR can do over DPP. I bought Scott Kelbys book on CS4 for digital photographers which I'm about half way through (god bless lazy days at work).

I've been going through the book while playing with a photo and I'm impressed.

My trouble is although he uses layers in methods he doesn't really explain them very well, what they do how they work or expand on them much other than to make a few minor changes.

Anyone have anymore book recommendations to learn more about layers and CS4?

Thanks :)

When I was looking at buying a PP book, I considered getting one by Martin Evening - The reviews are very favourable on Amazon. Changed to PSE8 before buying the book, so not sure whether the layers bit is explained well or not.

I can say that I bought one of those Dummies books for PP at one stage and it was total pants - Wouldn't touch one of those ever again.

Not been hugely helpful in giving you a specific recommendation, but at least there's a place to start looking.

+1 for Martin Evening. In depth but clearly explained.

Their is a chap named Matt Kloskowski (who also writes with Scott Kelby) who has a dedicated book on layers, i've had it for age's another one of many i haven't got round to reading properly, anyway it's available HERE for £15.75 delivered :)
