I bought this lens yesterday and it was absolutely fantastic. Very sharp I loved it to bits. I even got a little giddy feeling looking at the early shots taken.

but that was yesterday....

It's broken:sadcry: Whenever I put the lens on the 350D I get a loudish motor sound and then err99 comes up. Have tried it on a couple of cameras with the same result. Tried Cleaning the contacts, putting it into Manual focus. I think it's the apperture control as the shot I took at the point it stopped working was seriously over exposed. Oh well, Back to Jessops it goes..... It was really good while it lasted.

No it doesnt, believe me ! i was speaking to Dave (my brother lol) and could hear it even without him holding the lens near the phone ! Sounds liek the aperture blades have stuck and the motor is trying to move them and failing.
 
It's at times like that your glad you didn't buy from HK.
 
That's bloody disappointing, but at least you found out early on.
 
4 days to get a replacement but I'm in Cambridge all next week. So it'll have to be next Saturday. They said that they "will ask our technical experts about it to see if there are lots of failures with this lens". So expect a couple of postings on here later tonight then.....
 
Sorry to hear about the fault.

Regarding "lots of failures" there are many people using that model of lens both on Canon and Nikon mounts and I have not read of any other reports of that fault.

I guess you have just been unlucky. :(
