As a rule, I don't like giving poor feedback and am far more likely to praise than pan but the service I received today from Jessops (the company and one member of staff at the Exeter High Streey store) was not what I expect from any company, least of all one that's struggling.
Doing a quick "stock check" of printing supplies etc, I realised that I am getting low on paper/ink for my Selphy printer. A quick Google showed Jessops as being reasonably competitive on price using their collect in store facility. I duly hit the relevant buttons and waited for the text to tell me my KP108IP was ready for collection. A £2 bus journey later saw me dropped off right outside the shop so in I went. Handed over my confirmation printout and showed the man my "ready to collect" text and off he went to get my pack. Well, a pack... Canon have recently started doing a plain paper version of the paper which is a fair bit cheaper - the paper is lighter weight and isn't pre printed on the reverse for postcard use - which is what I use my printer for. I spotted their mistake before paying and showed the chap my order confirmation which clearly said KP108IP rather than the KP108IN they were trying to fob me off with. At this point, the incompetent woman behind the desk piped up with "They're exactly the same." Well, they're not! The chap then went onto the Jessops website and found the paper on there (the incompetent woman having told us that it wasn't listed) and the only listing was the postcard version (the one I was after). I asked if they could get me a couple of packs of the correct paper and he said that in all honesty he couldn't guarantee it, so off I went.
If I wasn't already going to be in town to post something and pick up a copy of AP, I would be even more peed off than I am but for now, I'm happy just slagging them off (deservedly) and happy to use them as a showroom for the internet (something I've always been against in the past). If I were more peed off, I would be writing a proper letter to their customer services and CEO to complain, not only about the company's incompetence but also about the dimwitted woman's.
Not ordered any paper/ink packs off t'interweb yet, another local shop is making enquiries to see if they can get me a couple of packs - 216 sheets plus what I have in stock already should be plenty for a couple of years!
