Okay folks, I think we've decided on Bolton Abbey as the place for the Yorkshire meet on Sunday 26th November:

http://www.boltonabbey.com

Here's a link to the welcome leaflet you get when you pay to go in:

http://www.boltonabbey.com/pdf/welcome.pdf

Theres a car parking charge of £5 per car - occupants are free. This covers you for all three estate car parks for the entire day.

Its also open from 9am, I'm quite tempted to get there for opening (nobody else has to obviously) but it might be good for some early shots.

There are three car parks, looking at the map on that welcome leaflet there are four but one is a riverside one and is open only occasionally in Summer. I suggest that we meet in the main Bolton Abbey car park which appears to be next to Bolton Abbey itself, we can then move between the three car parks as we like through the day if we need to. This car park is also the closest one to the steam railway. I think the Santa train might be on but I'm not sure.

I'll pm everyone on the list with my mobile number later on.

We're meeting from 9am onwards in the main Bolton Abbey car park

Yep, I'll definitely be there, although i might have to meet up with you all a little later... I'm driving up from Hampshire that morning. It normally takes 3.5 hours to get from here to Doncaster, so I'm probably looking at a 4.5 hour drive  Will finalise things later. Now where's Rickmezza.... Come on Rich, get your name down!

Will have to check work commitments :shake: . Then I'll let you know OK.

Put me down for it too.

Mini: if you want to stop at my place on the way up you are more than welcome, in fact you could always leave you car here and I'll drive to/from the Abbey save you that extra couple of hours behind the wheel.

Barring having a horse show to atend I'm there! with hubby and son (hope that is ok)

Renee

I'll check the diary, but I should be up for this as well...
Anyone need a lift up from the London/Hants end of the country? I'll be leaving Uxbridge at about 04.30-05.00hrs if I do go.

ohh we get to find out if Arkady really is soft and cuddly!

Yes I'm up for this one :)

As its a Sunday and me wife wont be able to get the time off work I'll be traveling down, from Newcastle, on me own. So, if there are any up this way that would like a lift down (and back of course ;) ), give us a shout and we'll arrange something :)

I have the day off as well which is even better so I will be there.

I haven't checked with Barry yet but I think we'll try and get to this one.....I'll get back to you ASAP!

Will be nice to be able to meet some more people from here and hopefully learn some more things from everyone.

Thanks for the offer, but it's further out of the way! I usually leave the M18 at the M180 junction as that's where my family are! I'm sure we'll survive!

would have loved to but can't that weekend. sorry peeps

That sounds like Hatfield Woodhouse Cheryl..

I am going through there tomorrow, Tell them to get the kettle on..:D

Not meaning to change the location of the meet at all, but it might (just might ;) ) be really poor weather in the Dales in November - sometimes it does rain here in Yorkshire :D .
Well, there seems to be a few people travelling from some distance to this meet, so I wondered if there should be an alternative plan just incase the weather was too bad (I think its mainly outdoors at Bolton Abbey). It would need to be somewhere reasonably close to Bolton Abbey so travelling plans would not have to change too much - perhaps Harrogate (people, buildings, cafes etc) or The National Museum of Film and Photography (never been there myself).

I dunno, might be a bad idea  . As I say, just incase some people travel a long way and the weather is cr*p. :).

If its a naff idea, just ignore me - thats what my wife does afterall !

Rich

The museum of film etc isnts an amazing place for taking photos (or at least it wasn't last time I went). But Harrogate is nice. There is also Skipton just down the road - it has a castle......not much else.

I may be wrong but I think there is a road that travels up the side of the river (think it kind of runs parallel to any walks etc) and I think you can park in various places, so if worse came to the worse you could just keep popping back to the cars when it started raining....looking at the London meet pics rain don't stop you lot anyway :D

I'm going to have to cancel, got to be elsewhere. (Paying jobs come first).

I was hoping that someone would bring some nice weather along with them ;) I'm not v good in the rain

Well if I promise not to sing from now until then, I think that will even up the odds ALOT :D

I may come, so long as you don't mind a beginner with very little photography skill or experience tagging along.

I think the motto of this group is:

All photographers welcome, regardless of skill or ability level.

No doubt some clever so and so will even be able to convert that into Latin :D

Whats this photography lark anyway?

As far as I am concerned its a level playing field - whether you've just started out or whether you're published and commissioned week in, week out, I couldn't care less.

If you want to learn new tricks and share some of your own with the others its a great oppertunity, its also nice to put names to faces and you get to take the mickey out of the site admins whilst you're there - thats even more fun.

I've added your name to the list :p

And regarding the weather - if its bad, we'll just ride the santa train all day, we could all dress up and pretend we were on the harry potter train or something :bonk:

Seriously, the BBC 5 day forecast should give us some idea at the beginning of that week, so we'll know roughly whats going to happen, if it looks like torrential rain and thunderstorms then we'll cancel it and meet up later on when its more convenient and theres less wet stuff around.

I guess the film and photog museum might be more interesting now I am in to photography, I have been numerous times before and found it much the same every time, I arent sure if you can take pictures in there and also what you would really take pictures of. Guess we will have to wait and see what the weather in like in a month, the cold wont bother me, just wrap up warm, so it will only be the rain that might not be so good.

Dohh, you missed an opportunity there for someone to do a pre-group visit recky :naughty:

can you add me and Barry to the list please?

what's all this about sandwiches?

and cookies, dont forget the cookies.

Someone offered to make sandwiches and we are putting in orders.
