Hey all,

Sort of a random question but there's this company that makes novelty bokeh filters - basically it's a filter with a shape cut into it (star, heart etc). You put it on your lens and it's meant to give your pictures different bokeh shapes. :D I was thinking about buying some as a gift and just wondered - do they actually work? Has anyone tried them?
 
They will work, but I don't think there's much point in spending money on them (unless they're incredibly cheap).

You can get the same effect with some black card which you've cut the shape out of.

They're $20 for 3 so pretty cheap :) Tbh with my craft skills I may as well just buy them.
 
Fair enough - I suppose if the person you're giving them to as a gift likes the effect once they've tried it, they can always experiment later.
