I've been after a FG for some time, will have to treat myself for my birthday
What type of light meter does it have? Needle etc?
?very nice
That looks like a nice little combo!
I keep getting tempted by an old metal body but can't decide! Olympus OM's, Nikon F series, Canon A series, and much more!
sorry isnt this thread about the OP. i thought his combo was "very nice" considering the 50mm lens left my posession on monday
For what it's worth, I wouldn't put "old metal body" and the Canon A series in the same category. They used a lot of plastics in those bodies - they are still very capable cameras, but lack the heft of their contemparies.
i think thats for the 24mm lens. think its a hr-1 you are looking for
not sure either way to be honest the HR-1 looks rubbery with an outside screw? the 50m lens has an inside screw which my cheapo shade left over from my Nikon 18-55 VR DX lens fits ok.

Wow the HS-11 is lovely but its going to cost the same as me camera !
My advice would be - don't bother. It's only going to be in very harsh lighting conditions where it'll make any real difference, and even then only when you have the sun near the angle of view of the lens or in the picture. Given the usual overcast conditions here in the UK I generally don't bother with a hood at all. They also turn a compact camera like this into something altogether bulkier.

Yeah I agree but it looks so cool and isn't that a big part of old school film
mind you what is the uber Nikon Film camera the F3 looks lovely.

I have an FG and an FG20. Beautiful little cameras - probably my favourites among my film cameras and very nice to use.
The FG20 lacks the program mode (but keeps the aperture priority and manual modes) but is otherwise pretty much the same.
Is the FG body metal or plastic?
