weekly BobBCN 52 (Wk 52 - BUSY added)

Week 45 - Pack

Maybe a hangover from Halloween or I'm just feeling macabre .....

Here are some shots of a typical Spanish cemetery. They have these constructions (called nichos) which belong to families. Each 'new addition' is added as time goes by. Well, you get the idea .... no need for further details. But the sense of space being limited is evident and so it was one of my first ideas for PACK.

"Together" Bob, an interesting take on the theme.
Its a great portrait of your daughter, it tells a story too. My only small crit would be that its missing just a little catchlight in the eyes just to give them a little sparkle.

Pack, I like the first one, photographs with infinity points are a particular favourite of mine. You have caught some nice detail leading through the scene and the B&W conversion suits the subject.

Excellent idea for the theme number 1 for me shows how they are packed in both sides

#1 for me as I like the perspective. As said above it looks like the B&W conversion has removed the business of the image so it works well.

I agree with everyone else (for a change) no.1 has the better perspective. Perhaps no.2 would have been better with you facing the wall? I would be interested to see this in colour :) (just to see what it's like, the B&W is great )

thanks Bob, I think the colour is cool too

I should have added that this 'colourful aspect' is not so usual. It's just that it was taken a couple of days after November 1st (All Saint's Day and a national holiday) which is a day when families traditionally visit the cemetery.

Hi Bob

lovely portrait of your daughter a different but apt take on the theme....great focus on her eye's ,add a catchlight & it'll be spot on:thumbs:

Pack....keep looking but can't decide :thumbs:bewteen the variations you have posted .I like the viewpoint on both #1 & #2 but he ladder does intrude a little in the 1st one. I also like the color version, think it brings it too life & shows how it's Packed with color :)

Hey Bob,

Some great shots!! Especially like the together shot, great capture and really good idea for the theme.

Also like Pack and Flow, both great for definitely reasons. The cemetery is really interesting

So, before I fall behind, and having abandoned the fruit & veg market idea (Yes, artichokes actually did cross my mind!) Here's an offering of shopwindow art.......

I must say that I do like the whole shop dummy thing and here in this 'fashion-conscious' part of the world there's a ready supply of models who are always willing to pose.

And these two have obviously had a bit of a tiff ......

Thanks Michael/Alex  - curious about the lighting as its actually done for me by the shop's own spots and what have you. I just point and shoot from outside in the street, especially in the evening. Maybe just a case of choosing the right angle, avoiding reflections and tinkering afterwards.

My own crit would be that f1.8 was perhaps too much. Maybe all of the dummy should be sharp inc righthand lapel etc of the coat.

Hi Bob, playing catch up here, so I hope I haven't missed any of yours. Let me know if I have.

Spread is a nice abstract shot, which works very very well in B&W. Like it :)

Together; wow! This has a lovely classic, almost 50's feel to it. I don't know if your daughter knew you were taking the shot, but if she did she's done extremely well to give you a natural pose. The only tiny crit I'd make is that I might have cloned her nose ring out (I think that's what it is?), not because I have anything against them, but because you can't see enough of it, so it looks like a blemish on the photo, and also because it doesn't quite go with the classic feel IMHO. Love it still though :)

Pack I agree with others; nice shot and idea, but a bit cluttered?

Art; who'd have thought a mannequin could be art, but it works a treat. Perfect exposure.

Hi Bob, firstly a big apology for having missed your thread before now! I've had a quick look through and a few stand out for me, fear is a cracker, those slides are fierce and fast you did well to catch the shot:clap: I love small, amazing detail. Up looks scary for those kids at the top!

Art is a great shot, superb lighting and the B&W suits it well

nicely composed pic for art can't see anything wrong with the dof

Ditto from me Bob!
Great composition, dof I think is spot on and you have worked what you were given lighting-wise well.
The B&W suits the subject, with some nice contrast in the tones.
All round good work, well spotted

Thanks for all the comments for ART. Very encouraging for me! I'll be round to visit other's threads as soon as poss with some opinions. One thing is finding the time to take photos, another is finding the time to keep up with other people's threads!

Cheers!

Hi Bob. I do like that. Not as much as I like your first one for art, but good none-the-less. I can't work out how it's processed?

I don't know if you know, but we've started using a main thread to post shots for the last few weeks this year, ready for a new system next.

Thanks Mark.

This was just a bw conversion and a push on contrast. The window has got some sort of advertising on it and because you are near to it whilst at the table you can see out, but passers by can't see in. It's also used on trains over the windows etc.

Anyway, it made for an interesting shot with the reflections both in the glasses and on the table. In fact, the original colour version has a slight hdr look about it.
