I thought that I would finalise my issues on thread. Blurb reprinted the replacement book and sent it via UPS. I had notification a couple of days ago that it had been sent and it arrived today. The replacement book does not have the defects of the original and the courier delivered timely. Unfortunately I was out and the guy helpfully chucked it over the gate. Anyone else have torrential rain today? Not Blurbs issue, just hope it dries out okay!

Chris

Chris I can't believe how much bad luck you've had with this. Don't know what else to say, hope it dries out and isn't ruined:shake:

Hi
I just wanted to know how people are getting on with Blurb. I did my book and have been impressed with everything, however this was over 3 weeks ago, they have too my payment and confirmed shipment 3 weeks ago and still I have nothing. I have emailed them but again no reply. Quite worried now. Has anyone else had problems?

I take it you didn't read the rest of this thread then?

Standard shipping seems to be taking around 4 weeks or so, I got mine within 4 days but I paid for the next level of shipping up. You pays your money, you takes your choice!

well unless I've missed something, I thought it said 4-15 days, wish I'd paid the extra now..

Oops, yes was to eager for answers and should have read all the posts, guess I'll have to be patient for at least another week. Hopefully it will be worth it.

I'm currently looking at photobooks as a wedding option for clients. How do Blurb and other 'top of the pile' book producers go about their colour management i.e. how much control would I end-up having over the colour management of the final article?

If you sign up to B3 which is Blurb's Business-to-business program, they will supply you with a colour profile. However, B3 is beta, and has been for several months. It's debatable whether or not the profiles will help. See this thread, for example.

*cries*

I am sure I will order from them again, creating the book is dead easy and user friendly, but Ill just pick express shipping next time :D

I hate to see someone cry - sorry to hear that your book didn't arrive timely. Personally I won't order again - I have ordered a book with someone else now as the second did not dry as well as I hoped. The quality of Blurb is okay - my own opinion is that they are not substantially better than the speedier competition.

Hope it turns up soon.

Chris

I`ve ordered from them aswell, on the 28th of jan and yes still nothing, definately learned by my mistakes, will order with express shipping next time without fail.

Just hope i`m pleased with the book quality when it comes:)

In case anyone is reading this topic and wondering about prices, Blurb offer three speeds of delivery, 'economy' 4-15 day at an increadibly low price of £3.44 then its 'Priority' 2-4 buisness days costing £10.78 then the fastest delivery, 'express' 1-2 business days which costs £27.41. So its not supprising most people choose economy delivery, it just a shame it takes so much longer than they say. I really wish I'd paid the small amount extra (£7.34) to get delivery inside a week.

I have just ordered my first book and used priority delivery .. here's hoping for a quick delivery and good quality .. i will let you all know

Betty have you filled out one of thoughs enquiry forms (forget what they're called) to chase up blurb? I think you should. :rules:

Betty, that is a disgrace really, there can be no excuse for an in excess of 31 days delivery time from Europe.

Whilst I was happy with my book I do feel that the delivery times are unnacceptable.

Mmmm been watching this thread with interest.

I did my first Photobook with Blurb back in November. Was pleased with the results and did the cheapest delivery option which took just over a week for the book to arrive...

Seems maybe they are a victim of their own success at the moment? Shame I was thinking of doing another one in the next couple of months.

Blurb book arrived this morning!

Impressed with the quality of the prints and the whole book, next time round i would try some different layouts and colours, but i still think blurb books are a better way of keeping your photos preserved, if you were gonna order 45 10"x8" photos from photobox it would be around £90 where as the book was about £30 for a 10"x8" with 45 pictures, i know what i`d rather have.

Summary of delivery, chose the cheap £3 economy delivery which definately wouldn`t use again, next time i`ll use Priority.
Ordered: 21st Jan, Printed and Sent out: 29th Jan, Recieved: 21st Feb.

Jesus, I ordered my book before you Philx1979, and nothing yet :(

If its not here by Monday, Ill chase them up.

Betty you can see them tomorrow, i believe they will be there, raise your concerns with them.

I saw them matty, but was going to give them until tomoro to deliver. I honestly didnt think the people at the stands could do anything for me :(

the offer is finished now, maybe another will come along..

Betty, sorry youve had problems, i hope the book is worth the wait.

Me too, Ive no doubt Ill order from them again, but with faster shipping is all. Was very impressed with the books I saw today :)

Blurb seem to still be shipping out their orders on time, it seems to be down to whoever it is they are using for delivery.
Mine's still not arrived, so I had to "Priority Order" a replacement, which arrived here in very good time and was passed on to the client.
I raised the issue with blurb, and they've agreed to reprint it and send it out as a priority.
I'll use it as a show album, it won't go to waste

Still nothing. A reprint form has been sent today.

Thats a good idea Michael, using it as a show album, assumming the first one ever arrives :D

My original order turned up yesterday, a week after my priority order arrived (only ordered it just over two weeks ago!). So, my new show album, along with another one, has gone off around the lakes to a couple of hotels with the rep.
I still like the quality for this style of album, and I'll still use it for clients that request it. However, it will always be priority shipping in future.
Not had delivery problems with any of my other album suppliers, but then again, they're all UK based

Typical. Guess whats waiting for me when I get home?

Very

Only arrived 37 days after ordering, shocking. By the time I read my emails, the reprint had already been actioned.

Right, well I've waited the 4-15 business days and have just emailed a complaint via customer services to ask what they are going to do. :bat: In fairness to them they have come back to me within the hour.

Apparently, 'Books using this shipping method are normally delivered in a timely manner. However, in some rare cases, packages may take up to 15 business days to arrive' ...may take? then they go on to surgest 'Most likely your order is just delayed at the border or in the transfer to your local postal system' yeah right. The final thing they suggest is for both of us to do nothing for another week before replying to their email. Yes thats fine, I'll do nothing then. :sulk: Thanks a lot.

please say you dont mean as a main album choice? this is TOTALLY the wrong kind of company and product to be offering as part of a wedding, look at some proper digital album suppliers like graphistudio and queensberry.

OK , so 7 days after ordering my album was completed on the 26th and shipped with UPS
