I have a bluray player on my PC and decided to actually try a bluray disk in it before I move in two weeks. Initially it said it couldn't play as the software was out of date for the newer discs, click for an upgrade and it took me to a page 'not found'. Eventually it did play, but every time I get this pop up that I need to upgrade. It currently has cyberlink power DVD 9 but the upgrade option is for power DVD 13 for £34.99 (currently £45 off)

My question is, do I really need this upgrade or is there anything better/ different I should be looking at?
 
Try vlc player.
 
I've also used VLC for years & years and never had any sort of problem with it.
Cracking piece of free software which plays just about anything.

Are you sure you didn't install the extras (that seem unavoidable with free software these days)? VLC itself is definitely fine, but so many applications these days (including the Java installer) will give you the chance to install something like the Ask toolbar as you go along.

Make sure you read all of the dialogue when installing, the days of next > next > next are long gone.

Thanks, I think first time it was a dodgy link as when I reinstalled it the icons were different. I un-installed everything and tried again. Just not had time to see if it works again!

Yeh, I am usually very careful when installing everything and do the advanced option. But I must have missed the box that said install this tool bar, that you'll then struggle to remove! I did it though.

My PC is off to sit in a bix for a few weeks now, I'll try and figure it out when I get back. Many thanks again.
