Hi all,

Hoping to find some bluebell woods in my area this year as a nice backdrop for some portraits etc.

Sure I've seen a website which shows you their location but I'm struggling to track it down.

Alternately, anyone know of any bluebell areas in North Yorkshire?

Cheers

Dan

how far into North Yorkshire are you?? the woods at Temple Newsam in Leeds have been fantastic the last couple of years

I'm just outside York, thanks Lizzy.

look for any Beech / Hazel wood- you'll find Bluebells

I just love the scent they produce- pure springtime

Les :D

There is a big wood above Ilkley that has tons of Bluebells. Middleton Woods. It stretches up a hillside from the river. Really nice spot and tons of different shots available....some on the paths some down little tracks deeper into the woods.

They seem to be the only ones I have on Flickr, but have taken many more over the time.

EDIT

map - http://goo.gl/maps/vJmp it is pretty much all the trees you can see there, both sides of "Curly Hill".

Big thanks Tom, might have to get myself there.

Am I right in thinking early May is the time to go?

Yes, early May is a good time. I went late May last year and had to contend with drooping blooms and well trodden first few rows of flowers :(

I can never seem to find a place with a really large density, so never come out in the shots that 'blue'

Hmmm, I think they should be called 'PurpleBells' :)

Bolton Abbey is excellent, certainly was last year when I was there - start from the Abbey and walk upstream on the far side of the river - there was some stunning groups of bluebells in the woods

Simon

Not much help to you, but we have a local wood called 'Bluebell Wood'.
Guess what grow there?

If you are ever in the area...
