Hi Guys,

I was just after some advice on whether I should get accreditation or not.

Last season I asked about taking some pictures for a local Blue Square Premier team and they kindly allowed me access. The pictures were used for the match day programme. The club liked what I did so I said that next season I would do home and away games for them. Here are my questions

1. Is accreditation something I would need if the pictures are just for the club I am following?

2. How do I set about gaining accreditation?

3. If I apply for accreditation do I mention my working for the club this season or will that get the club in question into trouble for letting non accredited togs in?

4. When is best to apply for accreditation for next season?

Really appreciate any help/feedback I can get.

Thanks in advance.

Neil

Thanks Steven. Would be great if you could find his email address, but I will do some investigating on Google if you can't.

Dont think he will thank you for all the spam email he is now going to get because youve actually posted his email address live on the internet, have you never heard of Spambots before.

OK some pure tosh written above.. sorry but it is..

To cover blue square games prem or N/S you will need accreditation... your club will let you in no bother and wont care.. thats OK .. but to cover away matches you will need to book yourself in as an accredited photographer.. again some club will be lapse and let you anyway.. But you dont want to miss a game because you didn't do it properly

If your purely doing your own club then you dont need to speak to the conference league at all.,., the club itself can issue you a licence number and they inform the league you are shooting on there licence.. the league then pass your name and licence number to all clubs..

when attending an away game you contact the club give them your name and licence number.. they check your on the list and give you a pass

However.. if I was you i would apply for an independant pass.. tell them you ahve spent the last season shooting for X club and now you would like your own licence to progress..

you will need to show proof of public liability insurance.. however if shooting just for your club on there lcience you will be covered ny there PL cover.. or should be..

I was never asked for mine when doing away games which was why I posted saying that, other clubs will ask you for it but many wont (that I have came across anyway)

so taking your advice he wont get into the games that do ask. taking my advice he will get into them all .

Yes you need insurance but if you have your own license if its asked for they know you are covered (No insurance proof = no license when applying)

glad we agree he needs.. dont quite follow the rest ...i said he needs it to apply for the licence didnt I ?

and afterall, I did say its free, its free so why not have it just incase?

because like the rest of your post its bad advice... get a licence.. doesnt matter if its free and its certainly not a backupo like you advise

Some people really need to remove there heads from there ases on here

well he can take your advice in the blue square prem and miss getting into half the grounds or he can take my advice and be sure of getting into them all.. plus with a licence number he can sell pictures to papers.. he cant (properly) without one..

I would advise the OP to ignore your missinformation if he wants to progress.. sorry you dont like my post.. but bad info is bad info.. i hate seeing people asking for advice and being told to do things the wrong way..

Guys thanks for your time. All advice is great, right or wrong. At least I know who to contact now and I can take from there. My main concern was telling the league I had already been let in and getting the club in trouble.

I will leave it a few weeks and contact Dave.

Thank you Steven, Tony and Gary.

How can I be given out bad advise when from my side of things have NEVER been asked to show who I am, thats 100% FACT. I may have worded it wrongly but were not all as perfect as you

I missed that firs time round :( so first i need to get my head out my arse and now a sarky comment about being perfect? my crime for these remarks.. pulling you up on bad advice :(

Wrong advice will always be bad advice no matter how you dress it up or how things have worked out for you personally

I know that Gary. I was just trying to defuse the situation I have unwittingly created. Ever wish you hadn't asked a question??

Thanks again though chaps.

I might just do that!

One last question, the public liability insurance, where is best to get it and roughly how much am I looking at paying?

I dont know what mine is to be honest.. I require 5m cover and its included in the equipment insurance... currently paying about 360 quid a yr :(

Think I pay around £280-300 per year with 2m PL insurance included in my policy (For around 10k of kit)

That is through Aaduki, recommended by TP members

I get free camera insurance through eSure with my home insurance which costs £236 for home and contents, just recently had reason to claim for £5,500 worth of gear and paid out no problem, you do however need receipts for all listed gear.

Top bunch of chaps. Thanks for all the replies. Really is appreciated.

Kipax #6 is the way it works for me.
I have a club licence, they cover me under their PL insurance, and as I don't shoot other teams, that's fine. I always have to sign in for league games. If I go to away games, the club Secretary informs the club, and I get a pass.
I guess some clubs are more fussy about procedures. For instance, some clubs only allow 1 photographer in for free, any others (even with a licence) have to pay. Seems mean, but there it is.
Now my club is in the play-offs for promotion - fingers crossed for next season ...

Thanks Carol.

Do you cover Luton games by any chance?

Good luck with that, hope they do well

presuming its Luton, I covered one of the games up here for them a few weeks back

Cracking club and great setup, the lads I dealt with were first class

My advice would have been to simply contact the Conference league and ask them whats required. Would have got all the info straight from the horses mouth with no messing! Downside is I would have missed reading this!

Wow, some major dummy spitting going on in the sports section.

Real shame people with a genuine interest can't get help without it turning into a willy waving bitch fest...........

Now i remember why i don't bother looking in here anymore.

I did kind of get the answers I was looking for in the end.

It was also good for a laugh as I was reading the "willy waving bitch fest" whilst I was at work. I doubt very much that Dave would have made me laugh as much had I found his email address via google!!!
