Paid a visit to the Blue Planet Aquarium with the missus and a small relative today. I decided to take my little Compact to get a few photos of the missus and our young relative. Got a few decent photos, but the little fella being so quick and mischievous made getting the pics a little hit and miss.

I should have taken my DSLR and fast prime, just that I wanted to travel light. There were loads and loads of people with DSLR'S and Speedlights all happily snapping away, I felt a little inadequate at times as I could have done with a little more light.

Flash photography is generally not allowed in Aquariums. I was in Sealife London last week where that's definitely the case, but I still saw people using the flash on their iPhones.

I didn't use flash but still managed some decent shots.

There's always some who think that rules (and laws) don't apply to them:shake:
I know of a few places where this selfish minority have spoiled things for everyone else, and I don't mean just photography-wise but where dogs were requested to have been on leashes and are now banned completely thanks to morons ignoring this simple thing.

Some of the staff also had DSLRS with Speedlights fitted, they were going round trying to get people to have their photo taken. Flash must have been allowed then, if staff were using it.

I went there a month or so back, after being rained off at the zoo :(

I asked a staff member, if I could use flash and was told I could :thumbs::thumbs:

Les ;)

Good capture, I struggled a lot as I was only using a little compact. Next time I will try my old D80 and fast prime. Although I probably wont go to the blue planet again, I find it a little expensive!

To be honest I wished we had of gone to Chester zoo now, as we found it a little too dark and pokey.
