blue or green lines/sections

Hi. I am pretty new to photography and these forums. I wonder if anyone can help explain why some of my photos have blue or green sections across them. they are not visible when I look at the photos on the camera but appear when I download them. Probably something very basic but as I said i'm new to this. Part of the photo will be fine and then perhaps the bottom half will be green or blue

Can you give us a bit more information? What camera and lens, what settings. Does this happen to just a few photos or quite a lot of them.

Best of all can you post some of the photos that are affected on here?

Certainly not normal, upon the limited info I would say a corrupted card, but without seeing the images in question its just speculation.
 
Thanks for your replies. I have been trying to post the photo but can't work out how to do it! The camera is a Nikon Coolpix 510 and is brand new so it shouldn't be a problem with the camera.
 
Go to flickr, open an account, upload the photo, click on the share button on the photo you want to share, click "grab the hmtl/bb code" Make sure BB code is selected, then copy all the code and paste it into the reply box here.

I still say a corrupted card issue. Is the card new too?
 
Thanks TCR4x4 for your instructions - hope I've done it right - see below. The card is not new and a similar problem has happened before - I thought it was something I was doing wrong but I guess it could be the card not me!

Definitely the card, or something happening during transfer to the pc.


How are you doing it, connecting the camera or using a card reader?
 
I have tried both and still the same - I think I'll get a new card - thank you so much for all your help
 
Try just formatting the card in the camera first. That often solves problems.
