Hi all,

Firstly I realise this question has been asked in various guises on a million occasions but here's my take :)

I've been asked by a few friends to do some family portrait shots for them. Wouldn't even think about letting them pay me as I'm still learning, just doing it to gain experience and build from there.

They've both stated they would like the traditional blown-out white background look.

At the moment I've got two Yongnuo 460 flashes, wireless triggers, two light stands with two 43" Westcott reversable umbrellas.

I have this backdrop frame and this backdrop sitting in my Amazon basket ready to be ordered.

My main concern is blowing out the white backdrop. I know I'm gonna need a third, maybe fourth, light for this but what's the cheapest and easiest way to achieve the look I'm after? I know my way around Photoshop so don't mind a moderate amount of PP to get the shots right while I'm learning.

Thanks in advance for the help

Cheers Keith, that definitely helped with understanding how to meter properly.

Now just need to find the best/easiest way to actually light the background.

Thanks again for the link.
