Never be scare of blowing out the highlights, check these guys out. They make a living out of it, and some wondering pictures too. I wonder how they get the colours like that, it's sooooooooooooo rich you can almost touch it.

Some of the photos are not technically perfect, slight top of the head cut off, a bit noisy (seems to be a trait), even slightly out of focus in a couple. But composition is always spot on, and the moment is captured which is the most important thing.

Excellent pictures, just goes to show that rules are made to be broken.

If we all took pictures that strictly applied the rule of thirds and rules of exposure etc then we would have lost some of the best pictures of our time.

Just take the pic it may not be 'technically perfect' but that doesn't mean it can't be a great picture.

rules are ment to be broken

Most of the rules applied like the 'rule of thirds' the film era, where the rules helped you get good picture as costs of prints were expensive. we've moved into digital age where you can take a many shoots as you like & experiment more.

If someone likes a photo hes not looking at 'the rule of thirds' etc but texture, composition etc. If it look good who cares about rules, as site clearly demonstrates :D

I prefer those close to being overexposed to those overexposed, but it might be just me.

This one's probably my fav:

The Portrait & wedding sections are stunning ... there feels such life & exuberance in every shot, such talent!

:withstupid: It makes a change to see such stylish and contemporary images, they really are very good and who cares if they 'break the rules'. it works! Bookmarked so I can have a closer look in a couple of days.

Funnily enough I've been playing with a couple of the images from the wedding last week and was deliberately giving an overexposed look although I'm sure if it is the right image....

I think it helps to isolate the subject without the clutter of the background that it would've have. Of course, you need the composition and the fun it in in the first place.

an excellent site, a good one for those that insist on the 'perfect picture' rule to have a look at. It comes across so well, those photographers love their work.

Great site

Does it say anywhere what kind of kit they use ?

I think under the info bit it says something like Professional Nikon camera and full range of Nikon Professional lenses. No specific gear list.

Just been reading their blog again

http://www.theblogisfound.com/

Totally awesome candids shots, still blown away by general snaps...........

p.s. I came across this in the blog for the gear they use

And in one of the blog entry he put "i quickly came to realize that a 5d + 200L was nowhere near enough camera to really capture what was going on at the rode", so i guess he has both.

I agree that the shots are great but to my eye there are no blown highlights. All the subjects are captured in perfect detail with some really good exposure control.

All that's lost to the right of the histogram is background that would be lost out of the DoF anyway. Very nice way to let the subject really own the space in the print.

These guys are fantastic. It appears they now use Canon 5d and a selection of fast prime lenses. Plus a couple of wide-angle tilt and shift lenses which Nikon do not provide. All fun stuff. I've got addicted to their blogs as even their holiday snaps are inspiring. Check em out:)

awesome photography there
i cant even follow the rules, never mind break the right ones with such stunning results

They seem to have things in each photo that we would criticise, yet it works fantasticaly well. Good find, I've bookmarked aswell for future ref.
