I hate high winds, too. Always a fear of roof damage etc.

I'm with you on that one. As a meteorologist, I love all kinds of weather, rain, snow, sun, thunder, rainbow, clouds, etc, etc - but the one weather type I cannot abide is strong wind for the same reason as stated by you. And yet this is the only kind of weather we seem to be very good at!

My wife got hit on the head by a tree branch this morning, luckily just a wee wound.

Another one here who's not a fan of high winds. (although you might not guess so from the flatulence thread)

However I do like to go down to the coast when it's a real hoolie and have a look at the waves giving it large.

roll on spring.

Yeh, warmer wind and rain!

Not keen on windy weather myself, but only because my Mrs moans about it so mutch!

Just another seasonal blast according to the trolls that post on the Daily Mail online forums.

Loads of experts on there! A friend rang me to say that according to those same trolls, the weather has got worse since the storms were given names...

To use their vernacular... "You couldn't make it up".

I've only got to look out the front windows for that

Lets just hope that storms "Miller" or "Lucifer" don't "hit" then :D

the one thats worrying me is zelda ,thats due the first week in march :help:

Ha!!!!

I live in a static and life is "interesting" when it is windy...or hailing...or heavy rain...etc. :D

I met the top one in the pub but woke up next to the one below..... How did that happen :D

Too much Carling Black Label....... Storm WindyMiller time. Sometimes known as "Any port in a storm"

Something to do with the law of fluid-idioty
"I've never been to bed with an ugly woman, but woken up with a few"

Incidentally, temperatures is now at -80 C at 50,000 ft (stratospheric level) over the UK and will be so for a couple of days. These values usually occur over the North Pole as part of the "winter vortex" at this time of the year, so it is rare to take place over the UK and thus making for ideal conditions for ultra high nacreous cloud formations. That's the spooky looking cloud coloured with iridescence at the stratospheric level (15 miles in the air) while still being lit up by the sun well after sunset, that's how high they are and even now it is still unknown on what they are made of (water? ice? gas?).

Here's what a nacreous cloud looks like (this is a stock image from the interweb) . . .

So it might be worth looking to the skies after dusk and before dawn break for the next couple of days (bit tricky when it's all being overcast and murky, obviously). These clouds are rarer than the Northern Lights due to the extreme temperature and humidity profile at such high altitude - and that's why I'm quite excited about this speaking as an amateur meteorologist.

As some of you may have noticed, the wind is back. After a brief respite tomorrow, it'll be back again on Sunday night and into Monday but even stronger with severe gales expected over exposed areas.

Hopefully the wind should settle down by the middle part of next week but the weather itself will continue to be changeable.

The winds are a pain because I need to flight test my Inspire after a software update.

It's been vile down here in North Somerser today. High winds and horizontal rain since 10:30 this morning. I knew things were not great with the weather station reporting 54kn/h wind in the garden.

Saw some movement by the catflap and 2 large frogs were trying to get into the house!

Am (hoping) to get the ferry from Pembroke to Rosslare on Tuesday. I have a family wedding in Wicklow on Wednesday....

Another Yellow warning showing on Accuweather.

Now where is my scuba gear

It's blowing a hooley here!

I love wind, nothing nicer then walking with the wind blowing, love the sea on windy days, might venture down there if it's still blowing tomorrow :D

Maybe they thought it was an ark? :D

We already have 2 of them. Just waiting for 2 Ardvarks and we are off......

No chance

We did a test run with a couple of Sauropods and they got the rus from eating the wrong trees. The amount of dino-crap they produced nearly sunk us and don't get me started on the amount of my Guinness they 'necked'. They were on heat every 3 hours.... beating my record.... mutter mutter

Booking your place in advance
Absolutely

Velociraptor ? as long as you take a few rabbits along, your'll soon keep them fed.
I had a quick Google, and it seems they don't like Guinness either has to be a win win

Velociraptors were on the initial list.... till we tested them for swimming ability (government requirement for export by sea regs). Misread the instruction sheet as being "all raptors should be expected to swim and do not need inflatable swimming rings".... well 24 drownings later we exhausted all available specimens...
