Bloody vets!

Cheers everyone. Your kind thoughts go a long way :)

A very sad update for those kind enough to show interest. Oscar died last weekend. He seemed to be perking up, eating well etc. Then a week last Friday, he became very disorientated and dragging his leg behind him. We agonised for an hour or so and hope he'd recover, he didn't and he's gone to meet his pals in the great beyond.
My wife has only just come to terms with the loss of the 3rd love of her life. He's buried in our garden along with a brown Burmese called Kizzy that we lost about 5 years ago.
Funny how they take a little bit of our soul too when they go. Thanks for the interest!

This such sad news. I feel for you so much :'(
I have two old friends buried in my garden, with a beautiful ceanothus beside them that flowers every year. Plant something nice, and remember your old friend too (Hugs)

Someone posted this poem when I lost my Taff either here or another forum, I couldn't not post it as is such a stunning poem and although brought a tear also put a smile on my face at the same time.

RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent, his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head; and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.

So very sorry to hear about Oscar. My thoughts are with you.

Wow! I'm very moved to know so many care enough about this stranger's lil friend. You all obviously know how close a bond these lil furry critters have with us soft pot humans.
My wife has planted a small butterfly tree on top of his grave and we'll always remember his chirruping every time we're near the spot.
Rainbow bridge is a very soothing thought.
Peas and love everyone :)

Our thoughts are with you as our 8 year old cat is still our baby & we know we would be heart broken if anything happened to him.:'(
We have been down the road of a serious thing with him as our approx.£650 final vet bill said so a few years ago.
But you do these things for the pets you love like family, all the best to you.

Last month i had a £1000 vet bill for 2 cats, thankfully the insurance will re-inburse all but £175 including excess. Why would anyone not have pet insurance. Also my vets gives me a quote for the work,if its going to go over they will ring me beforehand. And as for people moaning about out of hours sevice, get a grip or do you all work for peanuts.
Try and think how much the NHS would cost if you were to pay for all the treatment as you used it.
